op: excuse me?? Who said I don't work. I do work from home AND I have a DISABILITY..AND I drop off and pick up all by myself. Could I use a 2nd pair of hands to help on the days that I'm really feeling ill? YES I CAN..but we cannot afford it. So why not stop making idiotic assumptions about me [ Reply | More ]

I'm not making assumptions--you're changing the story. In your original post, you were a SAHM who was tired because you had pickup at 2 camps--now you worked all day, and are disabled, and are feeling really ill. If all that is true, of course you could use help--but that's not what you said originally. [ Reply | More ]

op: yes I do sahm but I have to work from home. I don't have to use explanations when talking to my sister. I posted what the conversation was btwn us. She knows I stay home but work from here. BTW I don't think that I have to put all of the detail you said I should since the post was about a conversation btwn my sis and myself. She knows my disability, she knows I work, she knows exactly what I go through...that is why her tone was so annoying to me. [ Reply | More ]

just as an aside, it won't be worse when #3 arrives. I found pregnancy to be much more tiring than the actual new baby #3. The baby will just go where you go, older kids will be in school (I'm assuming) and you can chill w/ baby at home until 2pm. It's not so bad. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Help- my 5-1/2 year old DD suddenly last week started pooping her pants every day. It only happens at home, not at school. She has been toilet trained for over 2 years and she's never had a problem before. She doesn't appear to be upset or anxious about anything, she tells me it just happens. She is constipated when she tries to poop and then it just comes out. What could this be??? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I bet it's school transition anxiety. Next year will be completely different! My advice: lots of water and fiber plus a daily or twice-daily poop routine. This is a drag, but it will help. Five minutes on the potty in the morning, and five minutes after (or before) dinner. You might have to sit with her or provide a book. [ Reply | More ]

yes i was also thinking it could be anxiety about Kindergarten ending, starting a new camp, etc but she does not seem at anxious about it and its not happening sometimes - it is literally every day for the last week - so i'm worried something is wrong physically. It's just so weird. [ Reply | More ]

OP: i spoke to my pediatrician and learned that this can happen when a child is so constipated that there is a lot of blockage and then there is "overflow" which just comes out and the child doesn't have control or feel it is coming. This seems to be what is happening. So i'm giving her a suppository today and tomorrow to clean out her system and then laxatives for a week. so I don't think it is anxiety or psychological, but we'll see. [ Reply | More ]

We are not in Bklyn but live downtown Manhattan. Money is a slight issue. We can pay but we have to give up a lot for it. Also we have younger DC also so tuition will be double in the future. However we are willing to sucrifice if St Anns is better fit for DC. Does St. Anns offer a lot more than Nest(academically and enrichment program and peers)? [ Reply | More ]

i think so. it's considered a very good school. also, i'll probably get flamed, but the dcs i know who are doing well at nest are the ones who are really into puzzle solving and drills and heaps of homework. nerds and grinds. not the arty types. [ Reply | More ]

We've been there. Both us and a close friend each had a a DC, same age, both arty, both smart (99% erb). Both wanted St Ann's. They got in, we ended up at NEST+m. Like me, our DC is very distracted type of kid. The warmth and structure at NEST have turned out to be perfect though we didn't know this at the time. Both are great schools and their differences can easily be over-emphasized. One key difference we hadn't thought much about was social class. NEST+m parents are in the main middle class, with fewer lawyers and bankers. As a former banker married to a lawyer I'm aware of eth pros an dcons of this. [ Reply | More ]

I know someone who is their 20s who is a graduate of St. Anns. He said that he wished he had a more academic education with exposure to more subjects. BTW, my dc goes to NEST and the amount of artwork that comes home is overwhelming. [ Reply | More ]
