^I replaced an old prewar tank toilet with a new 800$ toto lloyd. It was quiet, but often required a double flush or a plunger. When I moved to a new apt I kept the old toilets when we renovated. No regrets. Love my old crappy crapper! [ Reply | More ]

i think my ds 21 mo could handle it, only goes at certain times during the day and is very aware when he is going. He is also so aware of the toilet but at this point It is about convenience, how it will kind of make our lives harder to always have to be looking for a bathroom at this stage when he is so young. Most of my friends had their kids trained @ 2 1/2 or 3. [ Reply | More ]

probably. the common knowledge these days is to wait until 3 for boys and 2+ for girls. Different for each child tho. You may be able to toilet time them, which is what they do in Eastern European orphanages. It's not really the same as true bladder or bowel control, but allows you to move away from diapers. Depends on which synthetic fiber, if it off-gasses. Even more important, is that a wool rug will also off-gass if it is tufted and has a canvas backing glued on with toxic glue. Really common (Pottery Barn rugs always do this). [ Reply | More ]

I am the worst at the sniff-test, didn't notice the PBK rug stank for several weeks. I just went to ABC remnants yesterday! They didn't have a lot that were wool, will have to keep trying. I wouldn't put it down at all, but DC's room is freezing, it's an extension, so nothing but ground under it. [ Reply | More ]

I got a wool berber there... definitely ask a sales person to help you and keep an eye on what rugs the guys are bringing in. The one we bought had just been brought in to the room and they were inspecting it. Caveat: wool sheds, especially wool berber. But it's not so bad... [ Reply | More ]

We did. I had a very complicated pregnancy, and nearly died after delivery. DH did not want to risk it again.
