i think my ds 21 mo could handle it, only goes at certain times during the day and is very aware when he is going. He is also so aware of the toilet but at this point It is about convenience, how it will kind of make our lives harder to always have to be looking for a bathroom at this stage when he is so young. Most of my friends had their kids trained @ 2 1/2 or 3. [ Reply | More ]

probably. the common knowledge these days is to wait until 3 for boys and 2+ for girls. Different for each child tho. You may be able to toilet time them, which is what they do in Eastern European orphanages. It's not really the same as true bladder or bowel control, but allows you to move away from diapers.
