[ - ] freaking out a little. dh took 8 week old dd to visit his parents and they have a yappy little dog and don't understand why we ask them to wash their hands before holding the baby. DH says he spoke to them about the dog (who has a history of lunging at our nephew when he was a newborn. anyway). so trying to enjoy the few hours of alone time but freaking out a little anyway. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I know, I know. I just don't like his parents' attitude towards the whole dog and hand washing thing. his mother rolls her eyes at me when I ask her to wash her hands. Then she got in my face about how the dog will have to meet the baby. Does it have to be when she's so LITTLE? I mean, come on, there's time for all of this. I told dd to spit up in my fil's face when he lifts her up over his head ;-) [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but schools are concerned about donations, and the way to encourage that is to foster strong alumni connections by accepting legacies. It's not fair, and yes it hurts the average person, but it's an unpleasant fact of life. Part of what makes these schools so wonderful is their breadth of resources, and they have to offer something in exchange for that. [ Reply | More ]

np; it's because the city has more families with only 1 dc (can't afford to have more dc's). So, it does affect families with lower income. In Manhattan (except for the ghettos), having more dc's is a sign of wealth. [ Reply | More ]

No, I must have been bitten while at my parents' house for the weekend. Was in NYC, so doctors just kept thinking I had the flu for months on end. Finally was so weak I could not turn a doorknob with one hand. One day I actually got lost on my way home from class, could not remember how to get back to the dorm. Called my mother from a pay phone, collect. Parents came to get me, their doctor knew right away what it was. 6 months of IV antibiotics (had a port in my chest), over a year of physical therapy. But you are absolutely right - DS will get immediate treatment, it will be just fine. Thanks. [ Reply | More ]

The fold up ones are good for long car trips or for playgrounds in summertime, but in winter just go in the public restroom @starbucks, B&N, or whatever restaurant is handy. You will quickly learn places to go along your regular routes. You may have to hold her on public toilet until she's big enough not to feel like she'll fall in, but that's better than carrying the potty ring around with you -- unless she is very very insecure on toilet, doesn't sound like she is. In a few weeks it will be no big deal! [ Reply | More ]

Look, sex is important I broke up with a guy because he had problems and would not get them taken care of, everything else was great in our relationship, but that. I finally broke it off because I cheated and realized that it was unfair to him to stay in the relationship. I'm sure there are women who have lower sex drives and this would be a great person for them. But sex is important and the fact that he would rather lose the relationship than see a dr becuz he was embarassed said a lot. [ Reply | More ]

From what I've learned from talking with lots of women in affairs, the ONLY way to stop it is to go cold turkey, absolutely and completely. You'll be miserable for awhile but it's the only answer. Don't allow ANY contact, don't relent, when you're tempted, remember the bad parts. Like drug addiction. [ Reply | More ]

great advice. i tried actually.. so anal that i kept a log of our contact.. tried to stretch out the days between calls / txts. it's actually been five months since i've physically seen him, but we still talk. my biggest weakness is when i've had a glass of wine and then i lose all resolve. he's talking about visiting me and i'm being really vague about picking a date.. "i kept a log of our contact" -- see, this is the problem. It's not called NO CONTACT for nothing. As long as you play any part of the game, your life is on hold. Get a grip, move on, you will be much happier two years from now (and probably a lot sooner.) I've seen a lot of this and it isn't rocket science. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Wall E or Kung Fu Panda for my 4 yo dd tonight? I don't know why, but Kung Fu Panda looks a little annoying to me. But Wall E looks like it's going to be sad (like ET sad?). I dunno. Any recommendations? Thanks! 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Walle-E got great reviews - you might like it better but I think your 4yo will like Kung Fu Panda better. Have fun. Oh - any opinion on "Get Smart" vs "Iron Man" for dh and I? [ Reply | More ]
