DD is hanging out this morning in just a loose summer dress and no diapers. She went into the bathroom, sat on the little potty (on the floor) and said "I have to pee pee." I just let her be - she's done this before but just pretending. This time, she said" "mommy, I pp'd and so I went to look, and she really did. Forgive me for my potty training ignorance, but what's the next step? We're going out to a party later today and I have to put a diaper on her. Should the 'training' be all or nothing? Help! Talk to her about telling you every time she has to pee pee and that you will take her to the potty right away (and sit with her). Then follow through. Rewards for using the toilet, but no punishment for accidents. Just be warned, you will some some of the NASTIEST public bathrooms with this method. But it works. [ Reply | More ]

Do you carry those toddler toilet seats around with you or one of the little fold up ones that sit on the floor? [ Reply | More ]

The fold up ones are good for long car trips or for playgrounds in summertime, but in winter just go in the public restroom @starbucks, B&N, or whatever restaurant is handy. You will quickly learn places to go along your regular routes. You may have to hold her on public toilet until she's big enough not to feel like she'll fall in, but that's better than carrying the potty ring around with you -- unless she is very very insecure on toilet, doesn't sound like she is. In a few weeks it will be no big deal! [ Reply | More ]
