I mentioned having a great time with another couple and that I thought they knew each other. Then at that moment it occured to me that the couples had been friends in the past and there was a huge and nasty (and justifiably so) "break-up". I grew up in Queens, and we let a family friend use our address to send DD to our zoned HS. People do it all the time, but the DOE will check, and if you get caught, you will be forced to pay for the cost of the tuition (DOE will give you a number - usually in $10 - 15 K range) and you will be forced to return to your own zoned school if the school DC is attending is overcrowded. I went to an informational meeting on public schools once and one mom was all up in arms about out of zone kids getting into schools and asked principals on the panel what they do about it and one principal said, "if they have the proper documentation at registration, then they're in. we can't be and are not in the private investigation business. we have too many other things to do." Then the mom says, "well what if parents did the investigating, and brought proof to you that the child is not in the zone?" and the principal said, "if the child has the correct paperwork at registration, then the child is in. a lot of times families move during the time their child is at our school, but even if they then move out of zone, that child still has the spot at the school." basically, she was saying it's impossible to prove a child does not belong at the school. np. Some people have too much lipase (an enzyme digester) in their breast milk. The lipase digests the fat in the milk and makes it taste off so if it is stored the baby refuses to drink it. Scalding (near boiling) stops the process. [ Reply | More ]
