[ - ] NYC moms: does your newborn sleep in your bedroom (in crib, moses basket, etc) or do they have their own room? I feel like I am depriving my newborn in our apartment because we don't have a playroom. I guess this is okay until they start crawling and walking? 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I felt the same way - ds was born and we were in 1 br, but ds quickly got the bedroom all to himself when we slept in the living room one night and he slept thru for the 1st time! But no, he's not deprived. Its in your head. Would it be easier if he had his own space? maybe in some ways but harder in others [ Reply | More ]

DD slept in our room but in a crib. Then DH and I got demoted to the sofabed b/c we were all waking each other up. She really didn't need a playroom forever. She liked the sink, the fridge, tuperware... but we all hung out in the living room. I rotated toys from the closet and cleaned it up/you saw no toys really when it was clean. When she was two we got a bigger place, and she has a huge room, playdates, etc. She loves it but it really didn't matter that much. [ Reply | More ]

Had normal ultrasound at 6 wks, now have to wait til friday july 18th for next ob visit. I think I'm just being paranoid - I just so don't want to go to visit and have them tell me there's no heartbeat. I'm supposed to go on vacation the next day and after 2 miscarriages already, I'd just be so bummed. Any thoughts? 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

afaik, you can get a live-in for the same price you would get a live-out nanny or slightly cheaper, but you get much more since a live-in works evenings, 6 days a week, and does houseworkd [ Reply | More ]

no difference b/c live ins work more by nature of being there - they are often resentful of this fact however. Nanny salary depends on how great the nanny is nowadays more so than no. of children. 60hrs per week @15/hr would be a good place to start. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Help! Ever since we introduced our 8 mo to solids he's been really constipated. Not every day, but often enough to be worried. We told our ped, and she said "more fruit, more water" we're having a hell of a time getting him to drink water. He refuses h2o from his bottle (he's kind of a drama queen with his bottle, won't take breast milk from it either). He's balking at a sippy cup too. But he's backed up! What to do? 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

but that doesn't mean he is constipated. It really doesn't. You can help with that by letting him push his feet on your hands - just giving him some resistance. The bowels change with solids. Chances are he's just fine and not constipated, but there is no reason not to give him pruens (its a great food) in his regular diet, just don't go over board. How often does he have a bm? Try to keep an open mind. Traveling w/family can be difficult, but if you're moving around a lot, seems like it could be fun, give everyone lots to talk about. That said, it would be better if you had kids, then ILs can babysit. but it might set a nice tone for your relationship if you can enjoy the trip. give you nice memories? but I adore my inlaws and am taking trip to greece next summer w/them. I am not sure about what they are all about, but there are many pre-school alternative programs on the UES and while popular I think they are relatively safe.
