Preschool question. Are there any safety schools on the UES? We are going public so don't care about exmissions, just want the socialization and separation aspects of preschool. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Thanks, do you know where it is? And is it run like a regular preschool? I would like it to be like a class with the same kids each day. [ Reply | More ]

It is on 80th and York. The class is the same kids for the entire year and I think it's two or 3 times per week. We didn't do it, but I had a friend whose dc went there. THey were happy with the program. [ Reply | More ]

I posted below -- I don't know, but I think they are often Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Friday so they could be. In September you can look into them and talk to the moms (or nannies :)) [ Reply | More ]

I am not sure about what they are all about, but there are many pre-school alternative programs on the UES and while popular I think they are relatively safe. Rhinelander, The Art Farm, New York Kids Club, Gymtime Rhythm and Glues have these. Otherwise I dont' know of first come first serve ones, but feel like if you apply broadly something will work out. 74th st magic has a couple of separation programs for the 2s/3s age group. Kidville has a preschool alternative as well. Most of these are FCFS. [ Reply | More ]

There's a Preschool of America on Park between 93rd and 94th. Lovely old building, but don't know anything about it. Might be worth looking into. [ Reply | More ]

That's a daycare that might have a preschool curriculum but it's all day and $2K per month. OP might just need your basic nursery school situation. But my friend sends her dd there and likes it. [ Reply | More ]

We just signed up for the Culturehouse Kids Preschool Alternative Playgroup. It is run by daughter's old teacher. She is great with kids and has been teaching for 9 years. It begins in September on 75th Street and First Avenue. [ Reply | More ]
