[ - ] what should i do with a 5 YO DD that keeps having accident's. it's become a huge problem. she only had one accident the entire time she was in the 3's program but i think it was b/c it was a shorter day and she just didn't go. this year in her 4's program she had a lot of accidents at the beginning of the year and they started again at the end of the year. she's also been having them a lot in summer camp. we have a lot of change going on this past year and it will continue through the fall but i dont' know what to do. she's going to start K? should i not send her if she's having accidents? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

You might consider taking the pressure totally off by having her use pull ups for two weeks. She'll go in the pull up, if need be, then remove it and wipe herself. Since she's trained, using pull ups as a transitional tool isn't a regression, and might help. [ Reply | More ]

i guess i could try it. just worried me that she'd suddenly just think it was totally okay to pee in her pull up. but i guess it's better than being embarasseed at school. although strangely she is not a bit embarassed at this point but i'm worried in K, she midght be made fun of by other kids [ Reply | More ]

I feel for you. We just finished a year of 4 yo ds pooping in his pants but oddly enough, he never did it at preschool. So frustrating. He finally stopped. But I'd do the pull up idea for K...I think peer pressure will set in by then though as they are forced to be much more independent in K....she may be doing it for attention but in K she will soon realize that she isn't going to be coddled anymore [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Anyone do on who did an IUI at Cornell? Is the monitoring really time consuming? I had a consultation recently with Dr. Kang there and really, really liked her - just trying to figure out if its worth switching from my current RE who is around the block from my apt. I only went in for one u/s on each of my IUI cycles. Had HCG shot same day, then back the next day for the IUI. So, no, wasn't too time consuming for me. Although, if you go in for the u/s and follicles aren't ready, you'll have to go back for second u/s. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I have noticed recently that the homeless / mentally ill homeless on the streets seem to be back to late 70's numbers. Anyone know why? Should I blame Bloomberg? Where is the support for these folks, outside of "outreach" vans that swing by and tell them to go to a shelter when they're in an area where it looks bad, when you're trying to sell multi-million dollar condos? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

They are not. But schools want to attract MC families and they don't mind sahms (they figure more involved at school or something). Don't blame the moms, blame the schools wanting these families. [ Reply | More ]

they add an amount of say, $60K or so, for income you could be earning. I think that only counts if you have a young dc at home or aging parent to care for. otherwise, your are expected to work. [ Reply | More ]

They figure they are watching the db if you have a db/young kid (toddler). If you don't have a young dc or an eldery to care for, they assume the moms can make at least minimum wage. They add ohh... $15k -$30k to total HHI (artificial income one could make if flipping burgers or something). [ Reply | More ]

My parents have been married over thirty years, but when I was young they went through a rough patch (we were pain in the ass kids). My mom was leaving on a business trip and the night before my dad asked if they could date other people, she looked at him and said he could, but that she would leave. She came back a few days later and they started working it out. My dad says that to this day he thanks god he turned down that offer. PS they did not tell me this when I was a child, only as an adult in a serious relationship when I asked about tough times. People can work through them, no relationship is perfect, but both people need to be dedicated to making the relationship work. good luck OP. [ Reply | More ]

My dh & I had a very tough year (9/11, my mother died, had 2 m/cs, my dd almost died) and we almost didn't make it because instead of supported me he attacked me for not paying enough attention to him. I never thought I would really get over it but I go pg & 5 yr later here I am very glad I did. He is not perfect & neither am I but if we could make it through that I truly believe we passed thru a crucible that made us trust & believe that we could make it through anything. However at a certain point you do have to let it go, even though you are perfectly justified & right to be angry, you have to let it go in order to live life. [ Reply | More ]
