I have noticed recently that the homeless / mentally ill homeless on the streets seem to be back to late 70's numbers. Anyone know why? Should I blame Bloomberg? Where is the support for these folks, outside of "outreach" vans that swing by and tell them to go to a shelter when they're in an area where it looks bad, when you're trying to sell multi-million dollar condos? I agree that the homeless number seems to be on the rise. Was not sure if it was the weather (making it possible to stay outside). I feel horribly bad - my kids get scared sometimes and I feel sad that these people seem to have nowhere to go. [ Reply | More ]

well, obviously the economy stinks, so anyone who was barely hanging on may be on the street these days. [ Reply | More ]

i agree the numbers are up, but they are not nearly as bad as when I moved to NYC in 1989 (maybe they were better in the 70s?) [ Reply | More ]
