North Shore, $13/hr. AND I hear there are tons of nannys looking for work so I would not accept $16. And don't forget Xmas bonus, yearly raises, etc. At that rate you will be up to $20 an hour very quickly. [ Reply | More ]

We recently moved to New Canaan and are about 2 miles east of downtown. I've heard a lot of people talk about the benefits of being close to town and the main reasons for that seem to be that it's easy for older kids to ride their bikes or walk to school and into town. Many residential streets close to town have sidewalks, whereas many outside of town don't. We chose to buy just outside for two reasons: 1. We wanted property and many plots outside of town are on 2-plus-acres. The ones in-town are significantly smaller. 2. We have our first child on the way, so the benefits I've heard mentioned will not apply to us for a while. Whichever you choose, New Canaan is a great place to raise a family and all of the people we've met so far have been incredibly friendly and welcoming. Best of luck in your search. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think so. It's not a function like reporting where the staff requirements are the same regardless of how much the firm earns. When you combine two balance sheets (and all the off balance sheet assets/liabilities) the workload increases. There may be some opportunity to trim a few positions, but because treasury is not a cost center, this is rarely a priority. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Went to the gym today and while I was on a miserable treadmill, a woman "fell off" the treadmill she was on. Maybe she tripped, whatever... Anyway, I jumped off to see if she was OK, but everyone else glanced over and then went back to their workout. It was sad. Nobody seemed to care that a woman could have been hurt. The noise was incredible ! 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I'm guessing the other people around her were men? [ Reply | More ]

I can beat that! It was rush hour on the subway, a ton of people were around and a man was on the floor and he wasn't breathing. No one was doing anything! A few people looked at him, but that was it. I ran to the station attendants and they alerted the police. It really left me shaken up that no one was trying to help him. [ Reply | More ]

my ex-husband and i had an experience like that several years ago. a man had a heart attack on a subway platform and everyone just stood around. no one else even called 911. my husband ran to the agent, who acted irritated that he was bothering her and lazily reached for the phone and said she couldn't get through. i ran onto the street and hailed an ambulance (that was a first).
