mine was an emergency surgery b/c hernia popped out two years after my DC was born. i was in excrutiating pain and there was a danger of bowel getting incarcerated. i'm pregnant again now and haven't had any problems, although my belly button never popped, which is odd. i'm somewhat concerned that it will rupture again while pushing, but nothing to be done at this point. Basically, I had no idea I had a hernia. Then I had sudden sharp pains under my belly button, which I ignored for a day or so. Then when I felt down there a few days later, I could feel what felt like a marble protruding out. I googled it and ended up going to the ER, where they recommended immediate surgery, because of risk/pain. I had surgery a week or so later. I just turned 40 and I think I am mourning what could have been (even though I have two wonderful kids) Hubby had no interest in a third but I would have done it in a second two or three years ago.
