[ - ] Re; The Housing crisis. What percentage of people in general "have" to move (relo, divorce, new baby) vs. "want" to move (and so will stay put because they dont want to take a loss). 57 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Very few people have to move. Relocations are optional (except for military) and you don't need a new house because you have a baby. Divorce can force the issue though; although you could argue that divorce is also optional (at least for one spouse). [ Reply | More ]

The market is flat for a few reasons. Tighter lending standards (no more 100% mortgages). Far fewer speculators. Buyers waiting for the market to bottom out before buying. And overbuilding. Many areas are overbuilt with homes that no one wants or needs. [ Reply | More ]

Not replying looks "mad" and sulky. Men are dumb--I think he would totally believe that the OP is tied up herself. If he is trying to be distant, then the fact that she doesn't reply and is thus most likely mad, will fuel his "she's getting clingy" or "I'm not that into her" feelings [ Reply | More ]

not at all--for all he knows, she's not checking her phone. sending that passive aggressive reply looks much worse--i have time to text you, but now i don't want to talk to you, so am pretending i'm busy too. and, frankly, men love it when you ignore them. [ Reply | More ]

OK. You need to calm down or you will scare him off. He is traveling and is busy there is probably nothing to get worried about. Men are usually more straightforward than women. I'm guessing he means exactly what he said in his text. I'd reply saying Hope your trip is going ok. Chat soon. [ Reply | More ]

after you select it and hit update filters and the screen refreshes, there will be a new link somewhere in that same box saying "make changes default". It's totally stupid, because who thinks to look after they've already changed it. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I think the G&T process was hugely improved this year, with the exception of two factors: 1) DOE allowed for prepping by not stopping dissemination of BRSA and KTSS. 2) placements came a bit late. otherwise, I think they did an admirable job. the goals they set are likewise laudable. Carry on. 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i don't think scores should be everything considering how flawed the tests are and how easy it is to cheat. i also disagree with the sib policy. if there's a tie, the sib is in. otherwise, letting a 90-scoring sib in over a 95-scoring non-sib is a joke. [ Reply | More ]

it's actually over a 99-scoring non-sib. if a dc scores 99 and fc's ll, for instance, a 90-scoring sib still gets first dibs. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] bought a house that has blinds in every window and of course the string hangs down like a noose when we open them......I know I'm supposed to do some cutting of the cords, but what and where exactly do I cut? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I separated the ends so they don't make a loop anymore and also use those little 3M stick on hooks to store the cords out of reach when the blinds are up. [ Reply | More ]

that seems like the sensible thing to do...but will it have some effect on ruining the pull mechanism when the blind goes down and the cord goes up....I'm picturing one end of the cut cord getting sucked into the track and then having non-functioning blinds....which is better than a dead child, I guess [ Reply | More ]

I bet you could find something to stick on the ends of the cords so they wouldn't be able to go through - even a big bead would work. [ Reply | More ]

Free kits at Home Depot. You cut the loop and shorten the blinds and tie a little plastic bead on the end of the 2 cut ends. Or you could just knot the ends. When blinds are fully in down position, trip to desired height. I like mid-window. When you open the blinds, the cord will of course lengthen. [ Reply | More ]

I have chains rather than cords so they can't be cut. I have stuck small hooks up high and I hook up the chain every time the blind is opened or closed. Another option is attaching the bottom of the blind cord to the wall (where it naturally hangs) through a loop/ring screwed into the wall. [ Reply | More ]
