I had a lot of problems - mastitis, thrush, a db with reflux and a tied frenulum. I wouldn't say it felt soft and wonderful at all times, but the only actual pain I had was before we worked out the latch and when I had thrush. Thrush KILLED. [ Reply | More ]

I agree with this. It shouldn't really hurt. It was a little uncomfortable at first, but if the latch is right, it shouldn't be painful. First of all, it's DOE, not BOE. Second, everyone who has followed this process knows the rules and knows there are no waitlists. It's simply wrong for the OP to take away a citywide seat in this manner. [ Reply | More ]

My goodness, it was the BOE until a few years ago. Some of us have been dealing with them for more than this cycle. It really isn't wrong, and I write this as someone who didn't mail in the form because ds wouldn't take a seat if offered. The year's system stinks, overcompensating for last years debacle. And it is just as rotten, but in a different way. Everyone has the right to decide as long as they play by the rules and OP is. [ Reply | More ]

As I already posted in another thread, we don't know what we'll do. We didn't apply for fun or to see how many acceptances we could rack up. The U.S. is one of the few places in the world that makes drinking during pregnancy verboten. Your provincialism is showing. [ Reply | More ]

This is true. I saw a study published recently in England that showed no issues with moderate drinking THROUGHOUT pregnancy. Experts are worried that things have actually gone overboard in this country with women being nutso--like avoiding fish entirely is actually not good at all. [ Reply | More ]

lol. and your complete lack of scientific knowledge or current reading of the research is showing. whatever. good luck! I bet you think the whole rest of the world is really advanced in all aspects of medicine too, don't you? [ Reply | More ]

The rest of the developed world has much better infant mortality and morbidity rates than we do--did you know that? The US ranks one of the dead lowest. [ Reply | More ]

I was a high-risk for early labor and my OB recommended having a glass of wine per night. dd is not only perfectly normal, but an honor student [ Reply | More ]

My rule for first two pregnancies has been 1 drink/month, although now I find myself comfortable with one/week (although ends up more like 2x month) [ Reply | More ]

I drank about 2 glasses of wine per night before I was pregnant then stopped when I found out (about 4-6 weeks pg)and only had champagne at a wedding or a sip of dh's- my ds was born with a congenital heart defect and needed open heart surgery at 5 days old...I know its probably irrational but I still worry that it was drinking those first weeks when iI didn't know that did it [ Reply | More ]

or: It is a risk and I think no matter what you do you always will think you are at fault if DB has a problem. My #1 is smallish and I think it is because I had high BP during pregnancy and blame myself for not being in better shape before getting pregnant. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Db is due next week. I have felt depressed throughout much of my pg. I'm worried how I'm going to do when db is born. I wish I could just shake this off. Anyone have advice? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I would talk to you dr. and get a prescription for an anti-depressant before you leave the hospital. Caring for a newborn is hard enough WITHOUT depression! [ Reply | More ]

ITA. It is so overwhelming to have a newborn -- be prepared. [ Reply | More ]

I know it's going to be overwhelming and that I can't even imagine it. It scares the hell out of me actually and I'd happily remain pg for awhile to avoid that. I really don't feel up to it to be honest. i think the anti-depressant script is a good idea. is that OK with breastfeeding? my dh is anal about this baby already (let's just say he's extremely risk adverse) and I worry he'd freak if I wanted to take meds while bf (I realize that raises an entirely new set of issues). i haven't talked to him about how I feel. no one knows.
