First of all, it's DOE, not BOE. Second, everyone who has followed this process knows the rules and knows there are no waitlists. It's simply wrong for the OP to take away a citywide seat in this manner. [ Reply | More

My goodness, it was the BOE until a few years ago. Some of us have been dealing with them for more than this cycle. It really isn't wrong, and I write this as someone who didn't mail in the form because ds wouldn't take a seat if offered. The year's system stinks, overcompensating for last years debacle. And it is just as rotten, but in a different way. Everyone has the right to decide as long as they play by the rules and OP is. [ Reply | More

As I already posted in another thread, we don't know what we'll do. We didn't apply for fun or to see how many acceptances we could rack up. We applied because we're seriously considering turning down the spot at private. It's awful that the DOE has opted to forgo wait lists this year, but I still have to do what's right for my own family. [ Reply | More

Out of curiosity, why is it taking so long for you to make this decision? Couldn't you have decided this, weighing all possibilities (Brearley vs Anderson, Brearley vs NEST, Brearley vs district), once you heard from Brearley?
