Wow, why don't people make the same choices you do? Why can't everybody be tough and strong like yourself? SO ARROGANT. Depression isn't about feeling "sad" or "blue." Pay attention. It's worse than that. It drives people to suicide sometimes. [ Reply | More ]

This is like saying, Why don't people go through allergy season without decongestant, or the flu without aspirin? It is a chemical imbalance, corrected with medication. [ Reply | More ]

ITA. Sometimes bad things happen in life and it is totally normal to feel sad and even depressed in reaction to them. But, if someone is really chemically depressed with no real reason or cannot function for long periods of time or wants to hurt herself, I think meds are a wonderful tool to have. [ Reply | More ]

sigh. My point is that often people take them when they should very well learn to deal with sadness and loss in life. I think they are wonderful when really needed. I think OP is right that we don't accept sadness as a part of life anymore. We want to wish it away. I also had a friend who was suicidal and took them. I am happy they were available for her. Don't wait until he gets married. Pls. I did and now 7 yrs later we are both aware that we are right for eachother but just lost the chance b/c of bad timing. You will lose your chance at finding your soulmate. Do yourselves both a favor and at least tell him how you feel and then he can make a concious decision.
