I give equally to all of dc's 10 teachers (small token presents). There's a fund at Christmas that is equally divided among teachers and we donate to this. (private school--only small gifts allowed) [ Reply | More ]

OP - forget her. I've got four kids and I DREAD the newborn stage. Not sure why but I really do dislike it and I'm a much better mom w/ every other age. My last two are adopted and I was disappointed when I found out they would be newborns and older infants - that is how much I dislike the newborn stage. And, I'm not weird and I'm a good mom. Actually, I'm a GREAT mom (I'd only admit that on UB). Good luck to you. [ Reply | More ]

I dont think she was saying she didn't want to be. Just thought SAHM was not something that was in her cards. I thought it was great way to connect more. [ Reply | More ]

I certainly felt that way...1st three months colicky and wouldn't sleep. I did eventually start staying home (when he was 10 mo) and afterwards felt much more confident with myself as a mom. Before, when things would go right I would wonder if that was becuase of the schedule that the daycare put him on etc, things they were doing. Now though, i want to go back to work and I can't afford to! [ Reply | More ]

some q's and some suggestions. is your dh being the primary caretaker? will your ds have any scheduled activities. first of all, i think a 4yo home all summer without camp or classes is not a great idea. Secondly, i'd start now by having dh have the evening home with 4yo once a week. (do you have only one dc?). identify a problem area (dc misbehaves at bedtime or when dh tries to dress him) and help your dh have a plan. what will he say to ds? how will he ensure ds listens? what will he offer ds in return? i think it was fine b/c there were other kids around. in my neighborhood, all the 4yo's are in camp. i find the same thing with 2yo's during the school year. in principle, i don't think they need school at that age. in practice, it's not always easy to find playmates for them. [ Reply | More ]
