when maternity leave was over, I was so glad to get back to work. At home with a nb didnt agree with me. Now ds is so much fun, I wonder if Id be better at being SAHM than I thought initially. not that I can afford to SAH, but nevertheless... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np- i went back to work and then quit to sahm when dc was 10 months. i really think it is great for both of us. i'll go back to work someday, but will want something much more flexible so i can still have a lot of time with dc (and #2 on the way) [ Reply | More ]

not at all but not wanting to be home alone with a newborn is rather strange for a mom. (np, btw) [ Reply | More ]

op:. I did find it lonely and isolating, thank you. And I was really insecure about myself as a mom. And sleep deprived [ Reply | More ]

having a newborn is hard. really hard. running away from it, I guess, is one way to tackle it. [ Reply | More ]

I wanted to cut short my maternity leave. I was so overwhelmed. Now that DS is older and fun I miss him much more and WOHM is harder. [ Reply | More ]

He loves the baby but he is a man, who works full time and was not faced with the same decisions. [ Reply | More ]

huh? what do you mean? My DH is a man, too, works full time, etc. but helped out tremendously when he was home, especially at night. If he can't help with the children he would take care of chores like cleaning or cooking. [ Reply | More ]

OP - forget her. I've got four kids and I DREAD the newborn stage. Not sure why but I really do dislike it and I'm a much better mom w/ every other age. My last two are adopted and I was disappointed when I found out they would be newborns and older infants - that is how much I dislike the newborn stage. And, I'm not weird and I'm a good mom. Actually, I'm a GREAT mom (I'd only admit that on UB). Good luck to you. [ Reply | More ]

nnp - i disagree. being home with nb was often boring. now that dc is a toddler, they're much more interactive and fun. [ Reply | More ]

I dont think she was saying she didn't want to be. Just thought SAHM was not something that was in her cards. But i understand when they get older and the recognition piece happens with dc it is so much more fun. I actually did 1/2 my maturnity leave at newborn stage and the 2nd half at 8months. I thought it was great way to connect more. [ Reply | More ]

I certainly felt that way...1st three months colicky and wouldn't sleep. I did eventually start staying home (when he was 10 mo) and afterwards felt much more confident with myself as a mom. Before, when things would go right I would wonder if that was becuase of the schedule that the daycare put him on etc, things they were doing. Now though, i want to go back to work and I can't afford to! [ Reply | More ]

not to be mean but where were your husbands/partners in those situations? Taking care of a newborn usually takes more than one person. [ Reply | More ]
