[ - ] anyone ever read/used "Have a New Kid by Friday: How to Change Your Childs Attitude, Behavior & Character in 5 Days"? seems good but would love some btdt. (1-2-3 magic is toast in my house) 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i have not read it. but what i have found most helpful is to read as many books as i can. then give a lot of thought to dcs, to their personalities, to why they are having problems (or why i'm having problems with them) and then choose a method or a composite of methods that will work for this dc. and that's why i have perfect kids. (joking, of course). [ Reply | More ]

yeah, i think most of those books could be summed up in a page, but i'm in a tight spot now--my oldest is going into k and is very willful, and my middle is in the terrible twos, and we have a new baby. some rules around here would be goosd. [ Reply | More ]

not really, just general craziness, and i feel like I am forever hollering and only 25% is sinking in. #1 is very stubborn and a total boy's boy, and as much as I hate to rein him in, he's gotta calm down a bit and chill before he leaves our lovely progressive preschool and enters public K. And #2 is just totally willfully disobediant-totally the worng time to throw a new baby into the mix. [ Reply | More ]

sounds familiar :-) that 2yo stage is so difficult. it's like talking to a wall. thank goodness they are cute! and fwiw, i have not seen any book that has helped me deal with the chaos that is inherent with three small kids in your household. the best advice i've gotten has been from other moms and it all boils down to the same thing: take it a day at a time. prepare as much as you can beforehand. and don't sweat the small stuff. When DH sees tans and light browns he thinks they look green and DS just started doing this too. The purple and blue thing I just thought he got wrong 'cause he's still young, but the greens and browns just seem really concistant with DH's trouble [ Reply | More ]

I have friends who do. It is a lifestyle choice for them. I went to Catholic School and would never send my kids. The thinking is very black and white. I don't feel they take an interest in really cultivating a child's strength, rather every child must fir the same mold [ Reply | More ]

Most of my family does. My brother and I were the only ones (out of 15 grandchildren) who didn't go to Catholic school and most of our cousins are sending their DCs to Catholic schools. For some of them, the Catholic schools are the best options they have - rural communities where the public schools suck. For others, it's the lifestyle choice they have made. [ Reply | More ]

Don't worry about it. Our 4 y/o DD is vegetarian by choice - she simply doesn't like the taste or texture of meat. As long as she is getting good protien (yogurt, cheese, beans, eggs, etc.) she will be just fine without ever eating meat. Also make sure she gets plenty of fruits and vegetables and all will be well. [ Reply | More ]
