Then why stop with pre-K? Lots of publics are overcrowded now. I guess all UMC families should send dc to private school. Or if they can't get into a private school, they can home school or hire a tutor. That ought to be great for the public school system. [ Reply | More ]

You're the one who started with the hairsplitting, actually. It's not a huge difference. K isn't mandatory, and as long as dc is being educated by SOMEONE, like parents or a tutor, they're not obligated to attend a school. Your argument that the UMC should opt out of public pre-K and pay their own way applies just as well for K and beyond. [ Reply | More ]

My experience with her was absolutely terrible. I came in with some deep personal issues that needed to dealt with slowly and with a caring hand - and instead she confronted me and made me feel even worse than when i came in. I felt judged and distressed. To top it off, instead of allowing me to follow up with these issues at later sessions, she called me after a few sessions and told me she no longer could see me and didnt even give me the courtesy of an "exit session". I was left angst-ridden and abandoned. [ Reply | More ]

Cons: The only one I've found so far is that it takes longer for them to be able to play together. Oh, and #1 has a lot of stuff I've had to keep away from #2 (chokable toys, markers, etc.). When my DD was 3-4 , we had to drive in everyday because my mom lives in the city. She also went to pre-school in the area. The drive was not bad becasue we would hop on the HOV lane , thru the tunnel and were at our destination within 20 minutes. But it was expensive - tolls, gas, Parking. MOst days I would dress her while she continued sleeping and she would keep sleeping in the car. She got used to it. For us it was not about a great school but about a caregiver we could trust. If we get our first choice for G&T , we will be doing it again next year. Now there is two , so I know there will be challenges. [ Reply | More ]

That commute in general, but in particular with a baby as well, will be so stressful for the family.
