not sure what your size has to do with it, but depends on how long you've been at this, and how old you are. if you are near the end of your rope, maybe i'd just do 1, gives you the best chance for ending all this with a baby. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] NEST - let's be specific and not judgemental. Facts only. Do a list of how the facts let others decide if that the fact is good or bad. no generalities, just specifics. Example: No "incompetent administration", tell us what the administration does that is seen as incompetent. Do the teachers complain about not getting support for ideas from the administation. Do the teacher say the administration sets one policy one year and then do a 360 the next year? 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I really, really wouldn't do that unless you had a trustfund or a certain asset coming your way at that time. 3 kids? Yikes. People here have been saying $500k would afford 2 or 3 max kids to private... tuition goes up 5-7% annually. [ Reply | More ]

I am forma wroking class family and went to public then won a scholarship to a top high school (not in NYC). Don't take on the debt for a foreign language. Speak it at home (I'm assuming you do). Hire a great private tutor for all three (much cheaper than private). Send them to sleep away camp or summer immersion camps here in NYC where they only speak the foreign language. FWIW, I know Americans who speak French (plus several other languages) who did not take the language until they were in high school and have international careers, later living in France, etc. [ Reply | More ]

a group called EFNY is doing very good French bilingual afterschool programs in several NYC publics. My daughter attends one (3hrs a week) at PS 41. That's more French than you'll get at most privates. However, it is not nearly as effective as the Lycee if that's the school you have in mind. [ Reply | More ]

Strictly financially speaking, I can't see how you could afford 2 kids in private with that HHI. Privates will figure you can't afford it but make too much for FA, so they may not accept your kids. Even if Lycee Francais is cheaper, I don't see how you can swing it unless you have no real expenses (housing, etc.) [ Reply | More ]

If you are not applying for financial aid, schools have no information about your financial status other than income or address. They don't accept based on what they may infer from this (you could have parental help, inheritance, etc.) [ Reply | More ]
