I am a vegetarian (18 years) who never learned how to cook any mean/poultry/fish, and hate cooking. DH is a health nut, also not fond of cooking and often ends up eating meatless meals at home b/c he does not want to prepare anything complicated. Now that dd is eating solid foods I feel totally lost! Don't even know what to make her or how. Where to start? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

make her some vegetables! Why does she need meat, poultry or fish? [ Reply | More ]

OP: want her to have a healthy diet, with sources of protein. if she chooses to be a vegetarian as an adult, so be it, but dont want to force it on her now. [ Reply | More ]

why do you think you are forcing her? surely you give your kids the best start you can - if you have been a vegetarian for 18 years surely you think that is the best thing? [ Reply | More ]

was a vegetarian for 12 years (until I became pregnant and could have tracked and dressed game myself the way i craved it) but have many veg and vegan friends. kids ask for the chicken nuggets when they want them and then you can decide what to do. for now, be calm and feed her what you all eat... Don't worry about it. Our 4 y/o DD is vegetarian by choice - she simply doesn't like the taste or texture of meat. As long as she is getting good protien (yogurt, cheese, beans, eggs, etc.) she will be just fine without ever eating meat. Also make sure she gets plenty of fruits and vegetables and all will be well. [ Reply | More ]

the easiest thing in terms of cooking is a soup. you can make chicken soups or soups with beans for protein. [ Reply | More ]

if she is vegetarian she really doesn't need to give them chicken soup to get protein! [ Reply | More ]

if she doesn't usually cook meat or chicken, this is a foolproof way for her to do so. her post sounded like she wanted to. [ Reply | More ]

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and they are both vegetarian as am I. It's totally easy to make sure they get everything they need from their foods. They are such healthy kids - are never sick and love their food. [ Reply | More ]
