Those 97 and 98s may have gotten more correct than some 99s, but it's curved by month. And we all know how even and consistent 4 year olds are, not to mention that their brain development is finished by the time they're 4. Not bad, just silly. My 98 reads 100+ page chapter books and does 1st grade+ math for fun. 97,98,99 for 4 year olds are very similar, especially with the monthly curves. [ Reply | More ]

You're right, I don't think testing 4 year olds is brilliant. That said, I understand why a large school system needs to do it. But understanding what 4 year olds are like, I think it's foolish to make large distinctions between DC whose scores aren't significantly different. They're all bright DC--few of the 99s are truly gifted or PG anyway. [ Reply | More ]

If you can afford Rodeph, go. it's a terrific school, it's K-8, and if you have a smart kid (which I guess you realy do since all the ps 9 G&Ts have to be 99's) then Rodeph will challenge him. Howeve,r if you you cannot afford it rest assured that 9 is a fabulous program. [ Reply | More ]

I just checked the instructio on the application and I think I screw up by putting Nest only. Anyone who put one school only got a letter today? Trying to concentrate on getting her to express in words what she is upset about and how to say it to him. I'm sure they are doing this, and in light of budget cuts it's outrageous. Also, how many people who registered at their zoned school and will take a G&T spot will bother to call their zoned school to "unenroll"? School budgets are affected by enrollment estimates made by principals, and it's my understanding they're penalized if they overestimate. [ Reply | More ]
