Those of you who think the hand delivery is a hoax...do you not have any friends in the city applying to schools? A man came to my apartment today and handed me a letter. he said "Delivery from the Department of Education" and handed me a letter that said "Congratulations! The office of Student Enrollment is pleased to inform you that your child has received an offer to teh Gifted and Talented program at:XXXX" [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm sure they are doing this, and in light of budget cuts it's outrageous. Also, how many people who registered at their zoned school and will take a G&T spot will bother to call their zoned school to "unenroll"? School budgets are affected by enrollment estimates made by principals, and it's my understanding they're penalized if they overestimate. [ Reply | More

sorry, girls. Our letter and all the ones in the nabe were delivered by a guy who was driving a van. The letters were with our doorman. Who knows why the DOE did it this way. [ Reply | More
