Weaning advice needed. DS is 1 and is using me as the giant 135 lb pacificer. I can't take it anymore. He's ready for whole milk and I'm ready to quit with the boob. It's CONSTANT lately. I'm ready, ready, ready, ready [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Sorry, no advice but to do it now rather than wait - SIL is now dealing with 22mo who is ARGUING with her about stopping. [ Reply | More ]

She called me today, so frustrated. Said she thought it was awful when he would cry at 1yo (which is why she gave in and continued). Now he's lifting at her shirt in public and yelling "Booby now, I say!" [ Reply | More ]

I agree with nasty poster below in that it's really up to what you want to do. I think SIL has felt hijacked by the situation for a long time, having a really hard time not giving in even though she doesn't want to be doing it. [ Reply | More ]

OP - for me, I am glad I did it but feel my older child doesn't get as much attention as he should b/c the little guy is demanding me round the clock. This isn't three or four feedings a day -- more like 8 to 10 and it's wearing on me. [ Reply | More ]

Any way to cut back to morning and night feeds? I had to mix cow's milk with pumped milk for a while to get my kids used to the new taste. [ Reply | More ]

Now that he will start to take cow's milk, I think we have to be more vigilant. He's a nightime guy (mornings he can take or leave). But, man is this going to make bedtime rough [ Reply | More ]

that is ridiculous advice. shows complete ignorance of toddler nursing relationship. But to OP: if you're not up for toddler nursing, then cut out one feeding per week and substitute cups of milk and lots of love and cuddle time so you both wean gradually. [ Reply | More ]

Not ridiculous advice if OP is ready to stop bf'ing. I ff, and stopping the bottle at 15 mos was really easy. At 20 mos., it would have been much more difficult. [ Reply | More ]

OR: It's fine advice if OP is ready to stop. If she WANTS to continue, then of course it would be fine to continue. [ Reply | More ]
