[ - ] OK, now I'm freaked/pissed that this kid is coming back for money. told dh to get the kid's name and the name/number of a faculty advisor. then we'll tell the kid we'll send the check directly to the organization and tell them that it's associated with the kid. either that, or just tell him no, all our money is going to autism programs (which is pretty much true) 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Thanks. I had a lot of ups and downs. After a month I was getting worse too and thought it would never get better. But it did. YOU SAY 166! Never, ever say "G&T". Whatever you do, not Manhattan Kids Club. I've seen those caregivers in the playground on several occasions. They stand around and chat and pay very little attention to their charges. Yes, so do moms and nannies, but moms and nannies are usually looking after 2 kids at most, not 5. And then when you multiply it by the fact there are 4 or 5 caregivers looking after 4 or 5 kids each, that becomes 16-20 kids running around with little supervision. [ Reply | More ]

we both work, so finding a nanny, and a good one is a viable option. that said, i see dozens of nannies a week walking, at the park, in the elevator, and they're all talking on the phone while the children either stare listlessly into space or worse, scream their heads off. i love day care because at least there are other people around--adults and kids--so they're at least somewhat stimulated. [ - ] love love love my girlfriends and we are a real support system for each other. One of us has taken to medicating herself (I have no idea where she gets the stuff, but it's for ADHD) and is now a compulsive exerciser... She's already lost over 20 lbs and on her it's a ton. She pretends that all is well, but we all think differently... indifferent hubby, money woes, etc. ideas ? We've all metnioned it (she says she's great and we should be happy for her new motivation) and we call and email, but she's on another planet it seems... 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I tend to agree with this, but it's so hard when they are too inside their own disorder to see what's going on. Do you happen to know of a doctor who is good with addiction? My internist did a great job of identifying my addition (without shaming me) and helping me to recover. She may not even know what's going on. [ Reply | More ]

i think at the root of her issue is depression... that's just my idea... I see her DH as a cold, aloof, guy who thinks the world of himself... She has one DD and feels like they are a "team" and he is there too... [ Reply | More ]

you are right... all of us see it thoug... the strange behavior, disconnection from us, gorging on sweets at parties and such after total deprivation at home... it's brutal... even my DH is worried and asked if there was something he could do... [ Reply | More ]
