Budgeting moms: how do you budget for recurring expenses that change month to month, e.g., hair cuts, dry cleaning, co-pays to pediatrician, etc? How do you budget for gifts? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

we do an annual budget and some categories are not monthly but annual buckets - it works because it averages out over the year. we also pre fund our account and draw it down over the course of the year [ Reply | More ]

That sort of stuff levels out over a year-long budget, since there will be months when you do get a haircut and months when you don't. The monthly number is simply 1/12 of what you would spend over an entire year. [ Reply | More ]
