some people are really into aquatics for babies. I'm not sure of the reason, but I remember a cousin of mine going on and on about her 9 month-old's class and how he already knew how to hold his breath. I personally think it's odd though. [ Reply | More ]

We started our dd out on full size bed on the floor. We pushed it up against the wall and got a saftey thing for the side. She has always done great but I was worried in the beginning that she might get her face stuck in between 2 pillows so I would either go for one pillow or 2 really firm ones [ Reply | More ]

Honestly, don't feel guilty - they can fill the spot. That said, the only reason I personally would consider public over private is money. You know what is best for your dc and family. My dc is just finishing K at NEST. The NEST you hear about on UB is very different from the NEST my kid goes to every day. The kids there are great. The parents (vast majority of them) are really nice. It is a pleasure. The PTA had a picnic/fair last Friday in the courtyard. Tons of kids. A good time was had by all. And everyone was really great. The big kids are nice and gentle with the little ones. I'm (and my son is) very happy with our choice. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Please tell me your opinion. I am 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I have a 2 year old daughter and before her, I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. The baby didn't grow past 5. It turns out that I had low progesterone. After my miscarriage, the doctor put me on clomid and progesterone and I got pregnant with my daughter. This time around, the doctor put me on the progesterone and clomid as well. I had my progesterone checked the other day as well as my HCG levels. The doctor said my progesterone was excellent and my hcg levels were "slightly positive". I said what does that mean? He said, well you are very early. However, of course, I am freaking out. How would you interrupt what the Dr. said? I am tired and getting cramping and dizzy and sore boobs, but other than that - no crazy symptoms. With my daughter, I knew everything was ok b/c I kept throwing up. I do not have any food aversions yet or throwing up, but it's too early. Please let me know your thoughts. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Me, too! Academically great, but socially a nightmare. Totally incestuous being with the same kids all the time. Competitive in a very bad way. Emphasized intelligence over the many other wonderful features and talents the kids have. Skewed view of the world and skewed sense of self/priorities. Nightmare parents--too much pressure and the wrong kind. I chose mainstream for DD, want her to have a happier and more well-rounded experience than I had. I was with the same kids from K through HS and have never once talked to any of them after graduation...whereas most of the mainstream kids from my old HS are still in touch with each other. G&T is great in NYC because it gives you more options over a very crappy zoned school, but I'd take strong Gen Ed over weak G&T any day. You can supplement academically, but you can't erase the kind of stuff that goes on in G&T, as is obvious from the parents on this board! There are too many G&T parents here that I would NOT want to be on a PA with! [ Reply | More ]
