I'm afraid I don't know the details for all of them, but one of my friends tried for 18 months before she got pg. Hang in there. Thirty-eight isn't that old, and six months isn't that long. [ Reply | More ]

I got pregnant at 39, first cycle off the pill, I thought it would take months because most of my friends needed help. I don't think 6 months is that long for trying, my ob/gyn said it would probably take 6-12 months. Good Luck. [ Reply | More ]

do research and try all the tricks (Pre Seed, liquid Geritol, whole milk products instead of skim products, charting your cycle). if you are too thin, try getting a little soft. estrogen is secreted in fat cells. i bet that's why so many NY women need fertility treatments. everyone is too thin and, when we get older, it gets harder to get pregnant so we need the extra estrogen. good luck! thanks for the tips - I'm not too thin no matter which city you placed me in - it's the new irregularities in my cycle that are making nervous. I'm terrified I'm going into early menopause even though the cycle changes are the only symptom - I have been charting though and I do ovulate [ Reply | More ]

Stress can affect cycles, so it's not necessarily a sign of early menopause. If you ovulate, you can get pg. When I got pg with ds I was incredibly irregular. In fact I got pg during what would have been a 37-day cycle. [ Reply | More ]

no one's mentioned this directly yet, after 35 they recommend consulting your ob if you try for at least 6 months and don't get pregnant. You really need to make an appointment and start getting checked out, because there are things that they can do to help, but you're running against a clock, so they want to start as soon as possible... NP: My gen'l ed DD just finished K in a CTT class and had a fantastic year. The DC who had IEPs received a range of services -- many of them needed speech therapy, some got OT for fine motor and/or sensory issues, some many have received PT, too. None of these DC were severely impaired and I don't think that any of them were autistic. I don't think that DC w/severe needs are placed in CTT. Also, the majority of DC were gen'l ed. The class was beautifully managed and had 2 full teachers (one gen'l ed, one special ed), one full-time ass't. teacher, and a full-time paraprofessional for 22 DC. I would suggest that you contact the parent coordinator at DC's school and ask to speak with a current gen'l ed parent whose DC was in the CTT K class. You might be pleasantly surprised. GL. All of the gen'l ed classes had one teacher and one ass't. Yes, the special ed DC might need extra support, but they got it. And FWIW, all gen'l ed classes have some DC who get services. All of these DC are pulled out during the day to get the services. I can't convince anyone that CTT can work, but it worked in our DC's class. None of the gen ed parents seemed dissatisfied. I also think that K can be one of the best years to be placed in CTT b/c all of the DC are learning about how to be a part of the group. And to assume that there are more behavioral problems in CTT classes is unfair, especially at K. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, I posted below and I agree 100%. In fact, in regular classes there are always 1 or 2 kids who have behavioral issues and only 1 teacher in deal with them. In CTT, there are often no behavioral issue because all the general ed kids tend to be chosen because they are exceptionally well-behaved, and there are very few problems among the CTT kids and lots of adults to address the rare ones that come up. Yes, OR above is right and you don't have any idea what a CTT class is, although you are "assuming". In CTT, only 8 kids have IEPs (they aren't "special ed") and you often don't even know who they are. You get a much smaller teacher/child ratio (2 teachers), and often a paraprofessional as well. My kid was in a CTT class one year and it was fine. Lots of time the non-CTT kids are they best in the school so there's lots of so-called peers if you are worried about that as well. You are so off the mark here. As the mom of a SN DC you have no idea what you are talking about. If a child was autistic or needed that much support or could not function in a large class you bet they would not be in a CTT class. Why would we subject our child to that when they clearly could not handle it. We want the best setting for our child to learn as much as you dol. Such as a self contained class or special ed private school. My child actually is pretty typical and extremely social has lots of typical friends as well as SN friends. He is in a CTT class for that bit of extra support and peer modeling. Mostly speech modeling. Don't get your panties in a bunch my kid will not bring yours down! [ Reply | More ]

I have heard many stories of people who had wonderful experiences in CTT. However, I have to say that our experience this year has been horrendous. Most of the SN kids were wonderful, but unfortunately, we had a few who ended up being real behavioral problems, and pretty much sucked up almost all of the teachers' time for the entire year. Dc survived since she is very bright, well-behaved, and the type who can advocate for herself (and hence was perfect gen ed kid for CTT), but it was a wasted year for her. Will be doing enrichment over the summer to make up for the academics she did not get this year. [ Reply | More ]
