[ - ] Okay, so I can think of plenty of reasons *not* to have a 3rd baby: my other 2 are 5 & 7 (big age diff, been out of baby game for awhile), the ease of doing everything now, the terrible 2's and tantrum 3's, and, and, and... the biggest reason I have to have a 3rd is that I just want another baby. I guess I'm most worried about age differences, and a few other little things. Anyone btdt willing to share thoughts? 24 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

The age difference is great! Easier for you and for dc. My brother and I are close in age and my sister is 8 years younger. My sister and I are very close and she is closer to my brother than I am. It was so much easier for my mom with my sister than it was with my brother and I. GL and enjoy the baby when he/she comes. [ Reply | More ]

that's what I was wondering, about the ease of it all too. I was hoping that having two older kids would really help (as opposed to having two toddlers together with no older kid around, which was of course my earlier situation, and I thought I was going to go nuts!). [ Reply | More ]

I'm pg with my 3rd and am 40yr old. I was all finished (so I thought). Both kids in school (ages 8yr and 4yrs) and life is very easy now but the urge for another was growing and growing. I just gave it and said if it's meant to be it will happen. I got pg on the first try and am 23 wks along now. I tried to fight the urge for a 3rd but I had to be honest..I wanted another. op: that's exactly how I feel. Was sure I was done, and then my older one had serious health problems, which took a few years to get through, and now I really feel this strong pull to have a 3rd - in my heart I think I always wanted 3 - I felt it a year ago too, and pushed it aside, but it's back, and stronger now. Wow, sorry don't mean to sound so melodramatic! [ Reply | More ]

We are thinking about the same thing. #2 is 3 now, and we would need to adopt (no more uterus here), so #2 will probably be 5 by the time we get a child. There is already a 4-year age gap between #1 and #2. But then I think how worried I was about the age gap between them, and how now they are great brothers and it just is what it is - it's our family, not an issue, once they were both actually here. I'm rambling, need some coffee, but hope you get me a bit. [ Reply | More ]

ITA with above poster; everyone will adjust in time, but it's tough in the beginning. Hiring cleaning help is key, I have found. Otherwise, precious family time on weekends gets sucked up with cleaning. Within a short time, you'll see that your dc will be old enough to begin developing friendships and going to work will feel easier for you. Don't give in to the guilt; it's a wasted emotion. I belonged to a working moms group when I first returned to work and here ar some of their tips. I didn't follow them all, but they ar worth considering: 1. Get a housekeeper even if it is barely affordable; it will save your marriage and family. 2. Paper plates. 3. Cook on weekends and eat leftovers or pre-made meals on week nights. And there is nothing wrong with Chinese takeout once a week and it is cheap and super fast. 4. Have family dinner or sit down time as much as possible. 5. Your child will save up her emotions for *you* and it doesn't mean she doesn't like her child care, but some times they will see the best of her. [ Reply | More ]

We've known each other for a long time -- we worked together for years, then were casual friends, then became better friends and then started dating (finally!). As we became closer, we found that we had a lot in common -- likes and dislikes, experiences, etc. -- and we'd both always had a soft spot for the other. I don't know that I'd use the term "soul mate", but I would say that we're very compatible. [ Reply | More ]
