[ - ] I am researching soy products and discovered that tofu and soy milk are really bad for humans. What about endamame, though? Does anyone know if that's healthier since it's not processed? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

They aren't "really bad" - but do contain phyto-estrogens, so you shouldn't eat very large amounts of them. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know about soy milk, but tofu isn't really "bad" for you. And neither is edamame. The Japanese eat tofu and edamame a lot and have the longest life expectancy. BUT they are moderate in their diet. They eat a little of a lot of different things. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you and yes, it is horrific. But, in all honesty, you have no choice. You wake up everyday and you have to live. I'm "goal oriented" or was in ttc and I just had to keep my eye on the prize. I wanted a baby, and I was going to do everything I could to get one. I dind't have a guarantee that it would happen, but at the end of the road I was not going to have one single regret that I did not do all that I could to make it happen. My faith got me thru the dark days of my babies dying. And my single minded focus got me thru the days of tests, ttc, worry, d&c's etc. Once that pregnancy innocence is gone (and yours is too), it is so hard to be pregnant! But, you sometimes just have to throw your heart over the bar and let your body follow. [ Reply | More ]

Then you are most likely in very good hands. So, you just have to work on the mental stuff to keep yourself sane. There was always a time in between losing a baby and being ablt to ttc and those times made me crazy. I just looked at it as time being wasted. But, I would find a project to do. I'm really happy when I have a clean, organized home. So, if I knew that we would not be able to ttc for two months I would organize the closets or paint the kitchen - something like that to help pass the time. I also made sure dh and I were on the healthy ttc lifestyle thing too. Its hard. But you have to find something to fill a little time that makes you happy. [ Reply | More ]

you won't collapse. I promise. My grandmother had 7 losses before she had my dad!! That was a long, long time ago too. You just have to keep checking in with yourself, making sure you are still willing to be in the fight, taking care of yourself, and your marriage - and plodding along in the ttc department. It's not a joy anymore for people like us - but keep your eye on the prize. Best of luck to you!! [ Reply | More ]

I'm really sorry. That sounds so hard. I've never been through that--I've never actually been pg. But I remember how totally devastating and awful infertility was. I can tell you that once your baby finds you it is so worth it, so wonderful. Take care of yourself and your marriage and just hang in there. I remember when we had one potential adoption fail and I was so sad and DH said "let's get back on the bus. We won't get anywhere if we just sit in one place waiting" and he was so right. I hope you are in therapy. I too had 3 miscarriages from October-May. The last one was on Mother's Day, I was alone with DD because DH was out of town and totally checked out on the miscarriage front. Never had any testing done. I got pregnant with #2 in June -- right after m/c #3. It was the most miserable time of my life, and in fact the depression carried through my otherwise totally normal pregnancy. It took a really long time to heal -- well past when my son was born. Good luck to you. Find someone to talk to. Express your grief and don't be ashamed of it. It sucks. [ Reply | More ]

I would be very surprised if his refusal to go into the stroller has anything to do with the injury. It is just that age when kids want to walk instead of sitting around. If you have to have him in the stroller put him in, strap him in, and off you go. He will get the message. [ Reply | More ]

You just described me at that age. I wish someone had told me that being popular wasn't actually going to make me happy (I achieved it my senior year in high school). I wish someone had told me that I'd be much happier making friends with people I'd actually like, people who I'd enjoy not because they were good-looking or popular. My dh had a variety of friends that weren't the "popular crowd" and to this day (20 years later) they all still keep in touch. I have only one friend from hs. [ Reply | More ]

My DC are 4 years apart and quite different. #1 is internalizes everything, is a rule follower, can be very slow to warm, and is a quiet leader with a small groupp of close friends. #2 is a loud-mouth (he never stops talking -- he loves the sound of his own voice!) and a clown and keeps going and going and is friends with everyone. DC are close, but #2 drives #1 crazy sometimes (he'll say: "Don't you ever stop talking?" and #2 always has a smart-alek response). They share some common interests and are have become close in recent years (and #2 looks up to #1) -- but it's a tough relationship at times. For my DC, I think the age difference helps -- their lives overlap, but not too much, they are able to have their own "lives." [ Reply | More ]

^^^ FWIW, my DC are older (15 and 11). #1 began seeing a child psych 2 years ago (we were having all sorts of family drama and he could not cope at all -- he was scared and internalized it all) and it helped tremendously. I think that the therapist also helped him learn to deal with #2 (who had no trouble during this time -- and actually was very kind and helpful to #1 while he was struggling). GL. [ Reply | More ]

Don't worry so much (worry is a useless emtotion anyway - it doesn't spur (?) you to action, just takes up your mental time. I recently read a book on childhood friendships - it said only about 12 % of children are the popular crowd. That leaves a whopping 88% who are not. I was in the 12 and never really gave it much thought - but my child will never be in that group and its ok. As long as a child has one or two good friends, they will be fine. I think parents (and teachers) go way overboard on this popular, well liked friendship thing. Look at the adults you know leading productive, happy, successfull lives. Some of them are social butterflies and some are not. My dh is a terrific guy - but you'd have to be in his presence about 4/5 times before you realized this. He's quiet. Your dc will find his way. He'll find his friends. He won't be like his brother - but who cares. How boring would that be?! [ Reply | More ]

You are not crazy, but it's really tough when they are about one until they get a little older. The Sit 'n Stroll carseat on wheels is your best bet, but I hated mine and felt like it was never in right. You can buy wheels that your britax goes on for traveling. I occassionally use KidCarNYC and just otherwise go on the bus (which frankly, does not seem safe or include safety straps) or take a subway. It bites, but I WOHM so I am mainly left with weekends. [ - ] How soon can you put bug spray on an infant? I have a 5 1/2 mo and when we went out yesterday to do some gardening, she got four mosquito bites, even though I had her in a onesie. I have a natural repellant from Whole Foods, but it doesn't say an age minimum. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
