[ - ] Have been offered a job in Stamford. We currently live in Cobble Hill, and DH will continue to work in midtown. DCs are not school age yet, but we are thinking about moving to the burbs for the schools (and the space and the shorter commute for me). Which burbs should I look at (for 3 bedroom houses in the 750 range)? 26 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Friend just moved to Rye Neck, but paid in the 800s. I don't know what it looks like there but the schools are great. I don't know housing prices - your range is low for Westchester probably - but you can look into Katonah, Mt Kisco, Mamoroneck and Stamford. [ Reply | More ]

We had the same deal - dh got a job in Stamford and we lived in Park Slope and I worked in NYC. We live in Rye Brook. I like the area but it was a huge change from NYC. Nothing is walking distance. At the end of the day, we are in a nice town with great schools so I guess that is what matters most. GL [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. I really want to be able to walk to something somewhere, but maybe that's a pipe dream. The thing that panics me the most is the idea of finding a nanny who would drive my kids around. In NYC, no one drives them but me! [ Reply | More ]

I would have a big issue with that. Tried the nanny thing and it did not work out so now doing day care - much happier. If you are looking for houses in the $700's range I think you could find a 3 bedroom in that range in Larchmont (I saw a few before the market started to come down), Rye Brook (usually need updating), Mamaroneck. There aren't a ton of them but if you look you'd find something. [ Reply | More ]

But some of her friends have become jealous of her other friendships. I have heard this from the parents of the girls. Example: If "Emily" (my dd) plays with Sophia, then I hear from Olivia's mom "Olivia thinks Emily isn't her best friend anymore." I've asked my dd if she is still friends with these girls and she says yes, they are all her best friends. How do I deal with this? Do nothing and let it play out?
