[ - ] I need some honest feedback here. I am 7 weeks post partum and have yet to have sex. I feel totally fine down there, but frankly it's a little looser than it use to be. I am pretty upset by this. How much is this going to impact my sex life do you think? Also the extra 20 lbs that I'm working on losing? I know it's not PC but dh really isn't big on heavier women. Should I wait until I've lost some of this weight? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

If your dh is anything like mine, he will be so happy that he's getting some, that he will not care one iota about those extra lbs. They're temporary, and you shouldn't dwell on them. [ Reply | More ]

We just bought the 2007 last week from Albee. There are several differences (easier handlebar locking mechanism, foam vs. air wheels, newer colors). The only one we were worried about was not getting the foam filled wheels but imagine our pleasant surprise when our 2007 came with the foam filled wheels! Remember that $650 doesn't include the tailored fabric though so you are really only saving $150. Definitely worth it though. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. So the foam filled wheels are an 08 feature but you got them on the 07? What is the diff between foam and air and why do you see foam as better? The 08 has easier handlebar locking? Did you order it from the store or on-line? [ Reply | More ]

The air filled wheels have the potential for flats (although everyone we talked to never had this problem which is why we went ahead and bought the 2007). The 08 does have the easier handlebar adjustment and better colors. They don't have the 2007 in stock in store. You have to get it online. [ Reply | More ]

Glad for you, actually to be honest, it was your tone that was very accusatory as if our school or our choice of school was not addressing our dcs needs. We don't all feel that our dc needs special attention but rather to be in an incredibly challenging program with other very bright dcs. Not all of them are gifted, I don't know what their IQs are, but I think the key to raising a normal dc is to TREAT THEM NORMALLY and not be constantly pulling them in and out of normal curriculum to satisfy mommies ego that their dc is 'special' [ Reply | More ]

I do think many parents (and the DOE) confuse "gifted" with academically smart. There are huge numbers of very smart kids -- that's why it's so tough to get into a good college since so many kids meet the standards. I've only met 1 or 2 truly gifted kids and they do need special education, but most academically smart kids don't. Sure it's nice if your kid gets to be in a class with only other smart kids, but your kid is not gifted. [ Reply | More ]

I don't say your dc is not gifted because I don't know your dc. But the vast majority of kids in the DOE's "gifted" program aren't gifted. I once read a good definition of gifted vs. smart (I'll try to find it). Very very few kids are gifted -- your kid may be one of them -- but most smart kids aren't. There are tons of very smart kids in this world but most aren't gifted. [ Reply | More ]

Correct. I'm sorry for hijacking it. Truly "gifted" kids would probably have better experiences if the programs were only for them, and not just smart kids who learn fast. [ Reply | More ]

Most schools can't handle profoundly gifted children because the children are so far ahead of their peers intellectually. That seems obvious. Pg kids are the ones who go to college at 12 or 14. They are pretty rare. Less rare are the highly gifted - these are the ones who think like kids 3-4 grades level above their age, typically. Some of the highly gifted kids do fine in a well run mixed classroom; the work may be easy, but they can be happy anyway. Others need more specialized / differentiated instruction. it's as much about temperament and the ways in which they're gifted as anything else. That's why the posters above - who supposedly both have PG kids - could argue sincerely that special attention is/isn't needed. Here's a news flash: It depends on the kid. Not all kids are alike.
