[ - ] My DD goes to River School on WEA - one of her classmates was left at the playground last week - ACS now involved - where else can she go if I wanted to get her out of there? She loves it, is doing well, but now I'm worried.... 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

that's terrible. How was the little girl found? I hear this happened there a few years ago, as well as at Preschool of America across the street. Well, at least you know that the daycare is going to institute procedures to make sure it doesn't happen again. No other good daycare alternatives around there. You could get a nanny. [ - ] Stupid vent: when dd1 started k she wore a sweet little dress on her first day of school. Now, dd1 has requested a "first day of school" outfit and dd2 - who starts k this year - wants something just like her big sis. No sweet dresses for her. It flies by and kids are growing up way too fast. I'm not sure if I'm being overly stubborn or not but I'm narrowing the field of options and only allowing them to buy certain new clothes. If they don't like it, they can wear something they already own on the first day. I didn't know the clothing thing could be so hard. 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Am I missing something? I don't get the problem with a first day of school outfit for both girls. It makes school a special event and something to look forward to instead of dreading. [ Reply | More ]

No - I have no problem with a first day of school outfit. My problem is with the type of outfits they want. Before dd1 was aware that certain things were "in fashion" she'd happily wear a dress on the first day of school. But now she wants to dress like Hannah Montana - and so does my 5 y.o. b/c of her sister's influence. I'm just trying to strike a balance b/t not letting my kids dress like 20 y.o.s and not making clothes a huge issue. [ Reply | More ]

Is this your first? How old is db? I loved the excuse to put the tv on. And after I got good at nursing, I could read while I nursed - which was awesome. That only worked w/#1. For the rest of my kids I was still parenting while I nursed but I still appreciated the excuse to sit w/db while the other kids watched tv or colored or something. [ Reply | More ]

Frozen dinners are expensive, can't you just eat leftovers from supper? Other tips, don't dry your clothes in dryer, hand them up on shower rod to dry, walk to work, no bought coffee, cook at home don't eat out, cancel cable, get books from library don't buy them. [ Reply | More ]

Start by writing down every penny you spend for a month, then take a look at where you can cut back. Eat three meals a day at home--no more Starbucks/breakfast out, limit take to out to 1x month and rather than buying frozen dinners for lunch, bring leftovers or salads from home (healthier, too). Cut down on cabs. [ Reply | More ]

have someone else give it to him. leave the house and don't come back til he takes it. no fun but necessary. good luck. also, are you giving bm or formula in the bottle? if he is used to bm, try that or try mixing it with the formula. someone else told me her db was the opposite - would only take formula because he associated bm with her. so whichever you're trying - try the opposite!
