[ - ] My 3 year old DC (boy) will hit us out of the blue. Like, we are sitting around, doing books before bed, cuddling, etc. and then he looks at his dad, tries to hit him, tries to spit (but doesn't really know how...) and just becomes another "animal" altogether. We have no idea why....it's not like other times where we were setting a limit or transitioning to a new activity - anyone have a DC who does this? 14 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

weird though, in that he was already getting a TON of attention, and as soon as he does the acting out, he DOES lose the attention, in that his Dad left the picture (sometimes it is me that he acts out on....) [ Reply | More ]

Dad turned away, I moved my kid onto other side of couch, and Dad no longer played or gave him attention....while it worked fine, it's more that I am curious what provokes this initially. Is it just part of being a toddler? man, he's just nutty that way! [ Reply | More ]

Totally baffling. But dh seems to think it is perfectly normal. So I decided not to stress. Clearly ds thinks it is hilarious, and I have an inkling that at preschool amongst other 3 yo boys it IS hilarious. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and not harp on every annoying thing DH does... but can I complain to you? He does this thing where if he says something but I didn't hear him, and I ask him to repeat, he only repeats the last couple of words, and I have to ask 3 or 4 times before he finally repeats the whole thing. Did it today on the phone. He said "we are almost out of bread for tomorrow" but I didn't hear him (street noise) and instead of repeating, he said "bread" --- I know, not the end of the world, but it tries my patience. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

If your child is accepted into a citywide test-in middle school like Manhattan East and you notify the school that you accept, will it effect your district middle school acceptances later (like for example Mott Hall or ESMS)? [ Reply | More ]

DF had to figure out this dilemma - off-the-record DOE and school sources told her she should accept the test-in school offer and then withdraw if the got her district choice (which was her dc's first choice). They said it was unfair of test-in school to insist on commitments before she knew her options. Also, they said the processes were totally separate and accepting at the test-in school would not jeopardize her chances at district school (hope for her sake that this is true!) [ Reply | More ]
