So messed up that notifications for district zoned middle schools aren't at the same time. Columbia Secondary School and NEST demand commitments before families hear from district choices. [ Reply | More ]

If your child is accepted into a citywide test-in middle school like Manhattan East and you notify the school that you accept, will it effect your district middle school acceptances later (like for example Mott Hall or ESMS)? [ Reply | More ]

DF had to figure out this dilemma - off-the-record DOE and school sources told her she should accept the test-in school offer and then withdraw if the got her district choice (which was her dc's first choice). They said it was unfair of test-in school to insist on commitments before she knew her options. Also, they said the processes were totally separate and accepting at the test-in school would not jeopardize her chances at district school (hope for her sake that this is true!) [ Reply | More ]
