[ - ] In middle school, I remember listenng in as a neighbor talked about something her child had done and my mother said nothing about our accomplishements. I felt hurt adn asked her about it later. She said she had learned the hard way about talking about how wonderful we were s kids. I was still a little hurt, but had the affirmation I wanted from her. Met her at one of the CPA courses you have to take every year to maintain your license. In fact, we started as friends because we found out we had mutual acquaintances. Then one thing led to another and we started dating. She is very intelligent and you can take her anywhere. About 1 1/2 years into it we started talking about getting married (she had been married briefly with no kids). This is where differences came out. I would want to do something like go to a baseball game with friends I have known for years and she would make a huge deal about it. Or I would be concerned about my daughter's homework and she did not have the patience for it. Finally I said to her, sorry but this is not how it should be.
