[ - ] In middle school, I remember listenng in as a neighbor talked about something her child had done and my mother said nothing about our accomplishements. I felt hurt adn asked her about it later. She said she had learned the hard way about talking about how wonderful we were s kids. I was still a little hurt, but had the affirmation I wanted from her. I've come to understand my mom better on this issue. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Met her at one of the CPA courses you have to take every year to maintain your license. In fact, we started as friends because we found out we had mutual acquaintances. Then one thing led to another and we started dating. She is very intelligent and you can take her anywhere. About 1 1/2 years into it we started talking about getting married (she had been married briefly with no kids). This is where differences came out. I would want to do something like go to a baseball game with friends I have known for years and she would make a huge deal about it. Or I would be concerned about my daughter's homework and she did not have the patience for it. Finally I said to her, sorry but this is not how it should be. We were never engaged and I did not live with her. It then took a few months to wind it down. [ Reply | More ]

You know, I think I was like your first gf. My first real bf was in law school and I have only realized now how special he was and how in love I was -- I went to London and came back and just wasn't ready for real life and got scared and we went our separate ways. Because I wasn' t ready, it would not have worked, but in retrospect. I think he was my great love. [ Reply | More ]

Let me tell you a story about that. My father was Jewish and my mother is Catholic. As the kids growing up never considered me Jewish, and I understand the reason, I felt ostracized and never explored Judaism. On the other hand my sister "looks" Jewish and is very culturally Jewish.
