Any kid can do this, it's all about the training. If you sing ABC (a lot) to your kid and quiz him about numbers, he'll do these tricks too. Kids mimic their parents. most kids in my son's class can say their abc and count - including him - at 2.5. Regardless not doing so should not be an issue, nor is being able to do something to brag about. I get the same with a few mothers I am friends with. My son is smart, but the schl he goes to in NYC is so frkn ultra comptitv that parents often can not stop talking about how their kid did this or that or the other - often something my son has not done. I promise you this is not true. My parents had live-in care for me and my brother until we were in college and I was never, never, never confused or more bonded to a nanny than to my parents. And yes, I have all the normal problems kids have with their parents - they're not perfect but your parents are your parents. Your kid will always love you best. [ Reply | More
