So sad. I think 7mo is more bonded with nanny than me. I really want to quit or at least seriously cut back on job, but dh won't have it. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Colleague at work was saying that his wife really had to start bringing in money again after 3 mos maternity leave. The way he said it, I got the impression she wanted a few more months. I felt bad for her because of his attitude, as if she'd just been wasting funds or something. I don't know details of their finances, but I'm pretty sure he makes a lot more than I do. thanks. it just gets under my skin that so many of our friends - with a lot less $ than us - have situations where the dh wants the dw to be home. to me, this indicates more respect for what she does as a mother. my dh views everything in financial terms - i can work, therefore i should work. I left my twins with a nanny to go back to work FT when they were 4mo. They were very happy to be with their nanny, but they knew I was mommy and they were fine with it. 7 years later, they still know I'm mommy and are fine that I had a nanny for them. RELAX [ Reply | More ]

I promise you this is not true. My parents had live-in care for me and my brother until we were in college and I was never, never, never confused or more bonded to a nanny than to my parents. And yes, I have all the normal problems kids have with their parents - they're not perfect but your parents are your parents. Your kid will always love you best. [ Reply | More ]
