Children who moved to the city after testing will be able to test this summer. They will then be grouped with apps lost for all remaining seats in G&T. [ Reply | More ]

There *is* no second round. Families who move to NYC after testing period ends are having the kids tested this summer and then they get placed. Don't hold your breath. Your child will be placed based on what you ranked. [ Reply | More ]

huh? But it is a second round. Everybody who returned the rankings get their assignments. Some folks will decline the spot they are given. [ - ] MIL has recently started sharing with me some personal info about SIL's struggle with infertility. I had no idea she's been going through this -- she is still young (30) so if I thought about it at all, I just figured she and her husband weren't ready to have kids yet. SIL and I aren't close and I kind of feel like she wouldn't be happy if she knew MIL was telling me about this difficult experience. So, should I do anything? Tell MIL to stop sharing? Say something to SIL? Or just try to be sympathetic to MIL (who is obviously stressed out about this) and don't ever let on to SIL that I know. So far this last option has been my choice. But I also wouldn't want her to think i don't care...plus I am now pg with my 2nd dc...I'm not sure if I even need advice or just wanted to vent this to someone! 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I would keep on with what you're doing. And if you want to let SIL know you're there for her, don't let on that MIL told you. Just ask a general question or perhaps make a comment about a friend or something that lets her bring it up if she wants to talk about it. [ Reply | More ]

There are some great sandals that are just as comfy...for example look on Zappos...Eden by Stone Fly (the thing type), as well as others in that brand are very comfy have good arch support and good looks (some less than others). Mephisto now has some really cute sandals where the straps are stylish, but the soles are classic Mepisto. My fave comfy but really good looking sandals are calle "Ana-Tech." They are hard to find, but they are very high quality made in America (but not on Zappos). Cute and strappy in different colors, too. [ Reply | More ]

ita, there is a certain rebellion in some of the girls who are flashing like that, and then there are probably also girls who just grew up to tolerate a lot of nudity and they don't think it is a big deal. This comes up every Spring. I think little bikini tops are far more sexualizing of a young child's body than being 'topless'. Our children went topless to 5 y/o at US beaches and played in sprinklers, urban pools and playgrounds in one-piece swimsuits or bottoms with t-shirts. Our building has a pool and they often swam in only bottoms until 6 or 7 yrs old, when they understood that their bodies made OTHER people uncomfortable. We don't mince words in our family. Our kids are pretty clear that people have different views and comfort levels, based on social, religious and cultural differences.Sharing close quarters in an urban environment is a balancing act with a lot to juggle. If you've got enough energy and time to sit around judging people that don't cause you any harm, maybe you could use it for a more constructive pursuits. [ Reply | More ]

i wouldn't give it any thought. my very conservative and modest immigrant mom never put a top on me until i wanted one - so i was maybe 7 or 8. i did not grow up to go topless on girls gone wild, nor did i wear next to nothing in my teens and 20s when going out. one has nothing to do with the other. nudity in kids is no big deal. Good idea. It is silly for little girls to wear tops. I didn't and neither did my dd. It is much more natural for them and it doesn't draw attention to the differences between little girls and little boys. Besides, the kids never care; it is only parens that seem to have a problem. [ Reply | More ]

it sounds like your husband may be having trouble coping with the idea of becoming a father. i have no idea whether it has to do with the problems getting pregnant, but i think it is more common than you would think (given its something people dont like to talk about). talk to him about it, if he struggles after the baby is born maybe try therapy. this may sound extreme but my dh had a crisis after our baby was born, though now almost 2 years into it he is fine and very well bonded -- it did take a while though. gl!
