Have friends that went there religiously on the weekends to shop. Both are into health (he's a personal trainer) and both are pretty economical as well. I think it's worth checking out. [ Reply | More ]

love that place. We drive there from Manhattan. Beautiful fruit, veggies and meat. A little more $ than my local supermarket in the east village but so worth it. We don't go as much as we used to (gas $$) but when we can, we love it. They also have a nursery, wine store, soft serve ice cream..so we bring the kids and make the best out of the ride [ Reply | More ]

I think so, but you won't be able to get everything you'd get at an ordinary supermarket. It's great for their specialties, also for meats, fish, produce. Fun for kids too. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] We have a great sitter that we pay $10/hr; she works occasionally and normally 3-4 hours at a time. We're thinking of asking her to watch dd for 3 days so we can just get away for the weekend. Do you think it's a good idea and what would you charge her? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Charge her? I'd probably pay her. And no, I wouldn't leave my kid with someone other than my mom overnight. [ Reply | More ]

I would try just doing a weekend overnight first and see how it goes. We normally pay for 8 hrs at the hourly rate plus $100 for overnight - so in your case $180 for a Saturday to Sunday to start. For fri-sunday, I would pay $540. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] How many moms out there who are not happy w/ school that child was placed in for Kindergarten, CTT class? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

my son was placed in a CCT class and what bothers me the most is that I was not notified prior. I specifically requested that he not be, but they placed him in anyway. The school did not respond to a letter, nor 2 phone calls I placed prior to the new classes beginning. Honestly, if there was more communication, I may have felt more at ease with their decision to place him in the class. My fear is that he will be "labeled". He is a bright child who is going into kindergarten knowing how to write his name, knows his full address and phone number, letters and coordinating sounds and speaks in full sentences, can navigate a computer incredibly well. He has been in a structured school setting since he was 18 months old. I have questions to present to the teachers, like which one is special ed and which is the general ed teacher?, What's the mix of the class? how will my son benefit? [ Reply | More ]

I don't want to make a bad name for us as new parents at this school, so I am going to speak with his teacher and get more details. As this was only his second day of school, I would expect the teachers to observe the children and some may move to different classrooms. I want to see what she has observed and get her thoughts. So far, she appears to be good at communicating, so I am anticipating her being honest and understanding of our concerns. I may request a transfer, depending on the mix of the classroom as well. I just feel as though I don't have enough information to make a big stink at this point (other than the principal not responding to my letter). I do tend to give the benefit of the doubt, I understand enrollment is difficult to get through. [ Reply | More ]

Yes -- she loves pork chops! Loves bacon (although we don't have it very frequently); and loves sausage patties (also, not a frequent menu item in my house). I'd say we have pork chops once every two weeks or so. Bacon/sausage, maybe once every few months; more often on vacation. [ Reply | More ]
