[ - ] dh is mad that i never make dinner. we both work. I happen to get home sooner - but it's really only enough time to feed ds and get him to bed. we have a slow cooker, but dh clearly thinks it my responsibility to prepare it. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

slow cooker in the summer ? not super appetizing... Can you cook off a bunch of chicken breasts on one day and use it for quick stuff like fajitas, salads, etc ? or is he expecting you to whip up showstopper ? [ Reply | More ]

set up a schedule. you can cook twice a week. (you can find stuff that is easy to prepare. it's worth the points you'll get) [ Reply | More ]

If it is only the three of you you can make a big vat of pasta sauce that will last the week, keep throwing new bits in (shrimp vs sausage) or diff kinds of noodles. Can also use w/browned hamburger to make stuffed peppers or sloppy joes. Does he expect something new every night or just once in a while. I go down to Chinatown & get lots of diff stirfrys that I keep in my freezer for instant meals )just throw in a bag of frozen vegs) [ Reply | More ]

There is so much semi-prepared food out there, that maybe just resigning yourself to the "task" and shopping on the way home may be worth it [ Reply | More ]

i doubt it - usually dropping nap is shown by difficulty taking the nap and/or staying up really late at night on napping days. I assume you're talking about dropping naps completely, not dropping the morning nap in favor of the afternoon nap. [ Reply | More ]

when dc was entering 1st grade we didn't do anything out of the ordinary. She read over the summer, did some math but it was all on her lead. The school always gives us a list of books that are appropriate for her age and she choses from there. I don't push. She will be entering 3rd gr this fall [ Reply | More ]

np: I think if the dc is reading, that is the only thing I would have them continue. I would try to not push them (don't want to turn them off) but would encourage them to do as they do in school. My dd does about 30min a day and weekends off unless she really wants to read more. [ Reply | More ]

I am encouraging lots of reading with regular trips to library to pick out own books. I also have some kumon workbooks but those will only be at dc's request and "for fun" when we're on long car rides, plane trips, at restaurants etc. We'll see how it goes but I really don't want to push anything this summer. we read at night together bed, but I guess I just see that as part of the bedtime routine, not really "work." She reads basic books (I think it's like level F) so if she wants to do the reading, that's fine, and if not, I read to her. She has workbooks that she sometimes chooses to do, but I never, ever, ask her to do them. To her it's no different than, say, playing a board game. It's just another activity that she sometimes wants to do. She may do 30 pages one day and then not touch it for weeks. [ Reply | More ]

My son's two favorite activities right now are reading and writing his own books. I'll encourage that and work with him to hone skills. I know his school WILL send home some stuff. They said that whatever the kids did not finish in their math books by year's end would come home for the summer. It won't be too much. I do math with him all the time now but not as a formal/structured learning thing. This will continue over the summer. [ Reply | More ]

if you want to bf you can get through this. contact a lactation consultant asap. is it really thrush? are you being treated? GL! I would advise stopping the formula because at 2 weeks that is really going to screw up your supply. [ Reply | More ]

ITA. BF is a great choice if you can do it, but if it is this difficult it is perfectly acceptable to FF. Don't let the zealots make you feel like less of a great mom. If you are not healthy and cannot function comfortably it is not especially good for your baby either. GL. [ Reply | More ]
