[ - ] weird nanny question. i switched my child to using a laptop lunchbox that has resuable containers. the nanny washes them and the lunchbox out everyday, which is great, but she seems to be dumping all the leftovers, which she didn't used to do when stuff was packed in plastic bags. it seems weird to ask her where the food is going, though. Well, isn't she dumping it so she can wash the containers? What's so confusing about that? She didn't have to wash out the plastic snack bags. You've just got to tell her to transfer the leftovers, where applicable--obviously she's not going to transfer smooshed strawberries or crushed goldfish. [ Reply | More ]

thank you for correctly me, poorly informed one. The only thing you said that makes any sense at all is that it is "rare". [ - ] if you were having a rough time (miscarriage, sick child, etc) would you want people to call you? specifically wondering about sisters vs. sils vs. friends. 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I'd probably appreciate knowing that people were thinking of me. [ Reply | More ]

I can imagine instances where I don't want to hear from anyone (so I would just not answer the phone). I don't have a sister, but I was glad when my brother called. Same with friends. PLEASE no calls from SILs (one actually compared it to waiting for her dog's xrays when she found out we were waiting on bloodwork to confirm my miscarriage). [ Reply | More ]

depends on your relationship, but I would say yes. Just let her know. [ Reply | More ]

She can always screen her calls if she doesn't feel like talking. I'd just suggest you not compare it to your own miscarriage - people feel all different ways, so we can't assume she's handling the way you did. [ Reply | More ]

Oh, I am so sorry. What terrible luck for both of you. Well, given the circumstances, I think you calling her would be a really good thing. All my best for you to conceive again quickly. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Since UB got so slow, I feel more self-conscious about posting the "oh, woe is me" stuff, but I really am feeling like that. I have such a hard time making conversation with people, and it always seems like when I'm in situations with new people that they all buddy up and I get left out. What am I doing wrong? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i don't know but i hate posting the "woe is me" stuff when there's no way to post inside. obviously everyone could open the post but it always felt so much more private. [ Reply | More ]

A friend of mine tells me when I feel out of place and self-conscious and whatever "no one is paying attention to you but you... enjoy yourself" and it works for me... [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] So sad. I live in Dist 1. We really need ds to get into nest. He only got a 98. we only have one okay Dis g&T but the school is hit hard by cuts, new admin, and its only one class in a so so school. If he doesn't get nest we will have to move. so not fair he scored higher then we thought, I mean he got a 98 he should get a seat at nest. 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

the site is not letting me respond to you above..but I agree. DS has some good school like ps 41, 234? I think is the number down on tribeca, PS 3, ect. I grew up down here on Ave C and now send my kids to private school since the D1 schools are just sad [ Reply | More ]

I certainly hope you get it and not one of those people who ranked it but will not send the child there if he/she gets in! We too would definitely attend if we get it (another 98) I will cross my fingers for both of us! [ Reply | More ]

UGH! Talk about whining! You make me sick. No one told you to move to a god forsaken nabe in terms of schools when you had a dc. who would do that? people who want to live like beatniks in the east village, I guess. Well, guess what? You have a child now. Time to upgrade to a more family oriented nabe. Oh the horror! You will have to live among the boring MC parents, rather than in a cool, hip out of the way nabe. You will have to contend with national chains in terms of stores and restaurants. But hey, your kid will have more educational options. such is life. you need to grow up!!! [ Reply | More ]
