[ - ] Any suggestions for 2 yr old toddler waking up at 1am and not wanting to go back to sleep in his crib? Has no problems putting himself to sleep at bedtime but can't seem to put himself back when he wakes up in the night. Tried laying on his floor and that did not work and CIO does not seem to work at this point either? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

How long are you letting him cry? Do you take him into your bed? [ Reply | More ]

One night I let him cry from 2am to 6am at which point I had to take him out--now I have been bringing him in my bed at 1am and he sleeps there until 6:30 but he tosses and turns and no one sleeps. How can I break this habit--the CIO method might work if I let him cry like that every night but it is so difficult [ Reply | More ]

That's tough. I went through something similar with my 19 mo, but CIO worked for him. Once he falls back to sleep in your bed, are you able to bring him back to his own bed (that sometimes worked with my db when he was fast asleep)? Also, how is he going to bed at night - do you just put him in the crib or is there some other routine. [ Reply | More ]

CIO worked for me when he was a little younger but now he has more stamina! If I bring him back to his crib, he wakes up b.c I have a tent on the crib b.c he climbed out once so when I go to zip it, he wakes up. We read books in the chair in his room for a while before bed and then I put him in and he talks and plays in there for like 20 minutes and then goes to sleep so I know he is able to put himself to sleep initially without my help. Same goes for naps--goes in very easily but wakes up like clockwork after 45 min and won't finish nap unless he is in my bed where he can sleep for another hour atleast--I want him to get sleep b.c otherwise he is a disaster but I want to break this habit as well.... Ugh, I don't know what to tell you. Does Ferber have any info on this? I'm just hoping this doesn't happen to us. My db has had sporadic periods of good sleep and otherwise been difficult. [ Reply | More ]

I have not read ferber in a while but I think I will see if there is anything--all of the books I have read gie solutions on getting them able to put themselves to sleep and that basically solving the issue but that is not my issue....yeah, same was for me, he has had sporadic periods of being OK but not ever a great sleeper but now it is just horrible! you might want to have him checked by a speech therapist. They are wonderful, paid for by the state, and it couldn't hurt. It does sound like your friend is way advanced though. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think naming Thomas trains is really all that great IMO, that being said at 23 months they should have a lot of words. I totally agree that some kids are just quiet and don't need to say much (count you blessings) but sometimes it can be an issue that can be solve with therapy sooner than later. Good lucK! [ - ] Question about ERB. Last page, raw scores are much higher than scaled score. Why is that? i.e,Bolck desigh, DC's raw score 26 bit scaled score is 15. DC is Oct. born. Does this mean disadvantage to take test older age? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

each subtest is scaled by 3 month time period - but many subtests also have more than 19 questions so raw score means how many correct out of total number and then scaled score is percentile by age range. [ Reply | More ]

OP: DC took SB and OLSAT and both scored 99. Took younger age right after 4 yr old. It scaled and DC got advantage of being young. I wish he could take ERB younger. [ Reply | More ]

I used to tell DS we needed to play by the rules for a while, and then he could play by his own "rules" for a while. [ Reply | More ]

I think you have to model appropriate game-playing behavior. That's really the whole "point" of playing games at this age. There are ways to handle it gracefully but also insist on fair play. [ Reply | More ]

I think as long as you set the ground rules at the front, you can play it either way. You can say, "Today we're gong to play by the official rules for a awhile, and then we can play by Jack's rules." [ Reply | More ]

freezer on the bottom. more effecient use of space than a side by side and I like having the stuff that I am looking for all the time (milk, water, fruit, etc.) at eye level, rather than having to go digging through a crisper that is at my ankles. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, you will probably be booted. DC isn't physically capable of opening the exit door, and that is more important that age (I think the min is actually 15 or 16). [ Reply | More ]
