My children adored the Language Workshop for Children on Lex. They bring most of their teacher's over from Europe, produce their own material (which even looks great). They're the pros, way ahead, no comparison. [ Reply | More ]

Personally I never understand this whole horror of kids in beds. I used to love it when a little child sneaked under the covers for a cuddle in the middle of the night. Now mine are all over 5 & wouldn't dream of it, sigh. [ Reply | More ]

It took about 2 weeks to get my just 2yo to stay in the bed. do your nightime ritual; story, song, etc, then kiss then and sya good night. Everytime they get up just put him back with minimal internation. It was a hellish two weeks, but now she stays put. And it she's up in the middle of the night (unusual for her), she climbs into bed with us. [ Reply | More ]

Not to mention my poor husband. We haven't sat down for a home cooked, family dinner in months. DH and I are exhausted all the time. I don't have any pictures of my kids because I never go anywhere with them. I'm missing too much and i'm done. Work will still be there for me in 10 years. I'll go back then. I did the same thing. Was a VP at MAJOR Media company. Doesn't really matter, though. My daughter was being raised by nanny whose values weren't the same as mine. Jobs will always be there. Not the same one, likely not the same money, but it will be enough. Staying home to raise my daughter is about being satisfied with what we have, not constantly needing more. Enjoy this precious time with your family. [ Reply | More ]

I breastfed for about a month and saw my stomach go down every single day. I did eat a lot more during that time, but I have never had food issues, so after stopping I went back to my former eating habits pretty easily. It's an individual experience and depends on how your body was and your eating habits were before getting pregnant. Good luck, and stay hydrated. Don't worry about how much you're eating while breastfeeding, either-your body needs the calories not just to produce the milk but to keep your energy up. Breastfeeding is a physically demanding thing, and not just b/c the baby is on your breast all the time. Producing and giving the milk takes a ton of energy. [ Reply | More ]

I do wish he were more business-friendly (corporate tax issues), but I will confidently vote Obama. My die-hard republican DH may even vote Obama. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] RME. dh's 14yo dd was supposed to be here an hour and a half ago, dropped off by her mom. She (dd) just called; evidently, she couldn't remember our phone number (we've lived here for 8 mos), so she called her mom, who picked her up and drove her home but told dh she (the mom) was "too drunk" to drive her here (we live about 2 miles apart). IMHO, if the mom was too drunk to drive her here, she shouldn't have driven her anywhere. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

How long was she at home before the mom called you? Maybe the mom drank a bottle of wine through a straw after picking DD up and taking her home? [ Reply | More ]

I have already been given a car seat, stroller, bouncer, high chair, baby jogger and a ton of little boy clothes! What should I register for? 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Lots of bibs-terry cloth bibs. Swaddling blankets; one piece pjs with feet and the things on the sleeves that flip over the hands so db can't scratch his face; forget undershirts and go for the short sleeve body suits; we use Aquafor for the tushy (it doesn't smell medicinal); Purell to keep around the house for when visitors come; ; Little Tummies (we found this to be better than Mylicon); if you're breast feeding, you need Lansinoh, nipple pads (the ones by Medela don't make your breasts look too lumpy), nursing bras or tanks, etc. you may want to register for a bottle warmer. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]
