Frankly I hate when the hostess "relaxes" at her party. It is hard work. The hostess should be working hard - flame all you like but making it a good party means working the room and helping with socializing plus keeping the place relatively clean, kids amused and food excellent. [ Reply | More ]

a hostess also doesn't have to bust her ass at her own party. there's nothing worse than a stressed out hostess who is running around like a chicken with its head cut off. it doesn't make for a pleasant atmosphere. [ Reply | More ]

what is the point of having a party if you have to work the whole time? we invite people who feel comfortable helping themselves and don't mind if the place is a bit messy by the end of the party. we work hard to clean up and get the food together. but once everyone arrives, we offer drinks, and then spend time with our friends. he still reads baby books to my 6yo boy. would never occur to him to read magic tree house or anything more mature. He'll never take DS outside to play wth a ball and bat. I always have to ask him. He'll never just play cards or shoot the breeze, be a dad. He seems bothered by the kids. I could go on. [ Reply | More ]

Well, put the baby books away or somewhere else and maybe he'll read other books to his kid. Also, why do you have to control how he fathers his kid? Not every dad is the "let's go to the park" type of dad. Doesn't make them bad fathers [ Reply | More ]

My DS, now 13, was like this. His dad is controlling and DS remains controlling, though he has learned to direct it in more socially acceptable ways. May have been exposed last Sat, has been getting small read bumps all week - it didn't really click that it might be poison ivy until she got a small cluster on her head today. Just for the record - poison ivy is NOT contagious. It's the oil from the plant that causes the rash, and before you bathe, you can transfer that oil from your knees to your head or hands. But once you wash your body, there's no more "contagion". The only possibility is if the oil is still on the clothes you wore or your shoes, and you touch them again and then touch someone else. But assuming you've bathed since the exposure, someone can touch the rash and not get poison ivy from it, and it isn't spreading from place to place on your body. [ Reply | More ]

I'm definitely no expert so seeing your ped might give you peace of mind. My ds once came out of school with a huge rash on his cheeks, neck and chest. It was so obvious even the teacher commented on it, as did another parent, so I decided to take him to the ped that day. Turned out it was just a heat rash, exacerbated by sitting in a hot and humid un-airconditioned classroom for 6 hours. But I did feel better having it looked at. [ Reply | More ]

sounds like it could be strep-which isn't always itchy, is always contagious and is sometimes unaccompanied by any other symptoms. Call ped; I'm sure they'll swab top AND bottom. [ Reply | More ]
