My 5 yr old ds is very bossy with his classmates when we are on a playdate at our house - They dont' want to be his friend. I've tried explaining 10 ways why you can't boss your friends around, but he doesn't get it. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My DS, now 13, was like this. His dad is controlling and DS remains controlling, though he has learned to direct it in more socially acceptable ways. I think some kids just are that way, esp. firstborns. It also reduces anxiety. I never found a way to help him--it ended up coming from friends who got angry. [ Reply | More
