[ - ] What are the rules about retesting? If I send dd to G&T (not citywide), can I retest for a citywide next year for the 1st grade? 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I don't know the answer to this, but please consider how hard it would be on dc to move to a new school after just getting used to being in school. G&T is not always the best option [ Reply | More ]

DD did it this year, currently in district G&T (K), got a 99 & applied for Citywide but did not get in. These spots are super limited and sibling policy applies. She got third choice which was considered #1 in our district. But you never know ! [ Reply | More ]

Yes because #1 school would have better resources and diversity. But according one of the blogs above, dd got 99% received a 1st grade spot, not sure if sibling applied. Wish DD could have joined her she had the same score but maybe they went by raw score or lottery. [ Reply | More ]

We were supposed to see her tomorrow but now neither of us has heard back from her all day. She's on a blackberry and we normally hear back from w/in minutes. Are we screwed? We're not shocked that she lied or anything, just wanted to be clear. I just can't believe she's going to blow us off. We've been working w/her for weeks!!! Who knows if she was lying but I sell 30 houses a year and do not remember the selling prices of most...If she has been a good agent up to this point I think you can give her the benefit of the doubt. However - I do not believe you will be well served by having this person be your agent and the listing agent - that is of far greater concern imo. [ Reply | More ]

from poster below: easy, tell her you feel it is a conflict of interest for her to represent both of you (it's not even legal in many states), and that you feel more comfortable finding a new agent. You could ask her for a referral if you want to be helpful to her, as most agents get a small fee for that from the other agent. [ Reply | More ]

You're welcome! This is my first time on these boards and I was hoping to find some insight on my 2 choices for DS (ps 11 or ps 290). I'm sure I'll get the same crap about why I don't know anything about 11 and why didn't I tour it, blah, blah... Honestly, I live on UES and only thought I'd accept LL (DS scored 93) due to logistics and the fact that we're zoned for 290 which I've heard wonderful things about (and liked the tour). But now that we have the offer to 11 I feel I must research it as best I can before making a decision. It's too bad you get more criticism on these boards than actual advice. [ Reply | More ]

are you the one who said they will hold registration with a welcome picnic? that sounds ridiculous. no way do i want to stand in line with 50 families waiting to register. Is she just trying to put this off like OR says? [ Reply | More ]

they have 50 families who need to register. I can't see how a school that size and with the resources they have could be unable to handle a trickle of people coming in to register tomorrow. makes no sense to me. I am worried, and don't need to be this late i the game. [ Reply | More ]

I emailed Donna this morning to ask about this. She said they had been planning to hold registration/orientation this Thursday, but couldn't because some parents still had not rec'd their letters and everyone had until Friday anyway to decide. She said tentative dates are 6/23 or 6/25 and that they would know today or tomorrow when. It sounded like it would be 1 event: registration, orientation & the welcoming thing. [ Reply | More ]

I don't buy the conspiracy theories or think they are being insensitive. I just think that they want to have a group orientation and the timing is tricky for this week. I am very much looking forward to meeting the other new kids and their parents next week! [ Reply | More ]

I also received a prompt, friendly email from Donna Smiley when I emailed to inquire about registration. I don't think they're being insensitive to us or conspiring against us. Timing is just very tricky... that's why the crazy courier service. I am looking forward to the welcome picnic/ orientation, to meeting the other kids and parents. See you next week! [ Reply | More ]
