it's not that great an option compared to Anderson and it's not a guarantee. there is a g&t at a good elementary (ps24) that starts in 1st grade. this was the very first year of it and it and who knows if it is any better than the gen ed. dcs in districts that do not have district programs starting in K (like Riverdale) were guaranteed a spot in the district for next year if they got 90 or above, but not necessarily at ps 24. the only other district program is at ps54 in the fordham section of the bronx (near the zoo) which i would not consider sending my dc to. not a good school. I am a Riverdale parent whose dd got into Anderson and I am sending her there and i am paying 3500 a year for the bus. totally worth it. [ Reply | More ]

because D10 doesn't have programs starting in K, so in the usual fashion, the DOE made up a rule as they went along that DC that score 90 or above will be guaranteed a spot next year in a district program. in these districts where the entry grade for all g&t programs is grade 1, the only K programs that dcs could apply to were the citywides and of course only if the dc got a 97 or above [ Reply | More ]

not sure- d10 hasn't had a g&t for MANY years because the former superintendent of d10 didn't believe in them - when she finally retired a few years ago, they reinstituted g&t programs with 2 1st grade classes (only 56 seats for the whole district!!). the program began last year [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] my summer wardrobe sucks. still losing weight from twin pregnancy. now a (tall) 12/14. where can i get some nice tops in subdued colors, so i don't look like mutton dressed as lamb, (i'm 42) but not like an old fat frump, either? would prefer on-line. TIA 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

There's a flowy skirt from American Apparel that I always suggest on UB. I have it in several colors and it works no matter my weight (and can be dressed up or down). [ Reply | More ]

Cute skirt... I need to air a pet peeve though! If it's not sheer, they're referring to shirring. So in the description it's shirred, not sheared!!! [ Reply | More ]
