I guess I'd prorate it. If she gets 10 days of vacation and 5 sick days, for example, and has used none, I'd give her 5 days extra pay for 1/3 of the year. [ Reply | More ]

I nursed DD up to nearly 2 years, but the night-nursing damaged her top front teeth. They don't need that middle of hte night feeding at all and it's bad for the teeth. Of course DD probably inherited my cavities. It's been great for her immune system, but I would gently urge you to break the boob. [ Reply | More ]

HATE Lucy Moses. My 7-y.o. daughter was taking a class on the top floor which is only accessible by elevator. Her class was the only one on that floor at that hour in the evening, so it was very isolated. I was a few minutes late picking DC up due to a stalled subway in front of my subway, so teacher left DC alone in the classroom so that she could make her next class downstairs. When I spoke with the teacher AND the director of the school, they both told me my child's safety is not their responsibility if I'm not on time to pick up my child. My daughter was in tears and terrified when I showed up that evening. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Il's 6 months ago offered to watch ds for us on 4th of July as we have a wedding. Il's usually have a party, but told dh they aren't having one this year. Yesterday mil told dh his aunt was going to be in town and staying with il's during July 4th and they are having a couple people over for burgers. Dh thought that meant the neighbor or something. Today mil told me they are have a small party, just 10-15 people! If we knew they were having a party, we would have made alternate arrangements for ds. Mil gets really crazy when she has people over and at 18 months, ds is a handful!! Il's have a tough time watching him when they're not entertaining. WWYD? 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Ask them if they are really up for watching ds. For my ILs, it would be fine--MIL does the planning and cooking when they entertain, and FIL could play with ds. You could offer to try and make other arrangements but you'd have to make it clear that you might not be able to find a sitter at short notice. On second thought, maybe you should just do nothing--they made their own problem! Now they will just have to deal with the added stress of a toddler around while trying to entertain. [ Reply | More ]
